I'm not sure if anyone's interested, but I've started a blog that describes my progress as I sought, interviewed for and obtained a volunteer position working en femme.

Hi Kay.
Congratulations Kay. You have already learned something that it often takes people in transition some time to learn. By and large, people really don't care what you wear, as long as you try to fit in and you're not throwing your differences in their faces. In other words, leave off the drag queen clothes (if you have any
)
And most are nice enough to not call attention to you if they read you. And if you have a genuine smile on your face during interaction, the result will be positive.
One of the other things we often learn to our surprise, is that we are more likely to be seen as our proper gender if we just relax and be natural. No matter what you are wearing. I am ma'amed more often than not when I have to wear gender neutral clothes to see my mother. Others look at me with a bit of confusion and then simply pick neutral pronouns or something rather than possibly make a mistake.
So you have learned a valuable thing.
Love, Carolynn

Thanks for your comments, Carolynn.
Because of the total acceptance I've received, I've accelerated past any other concerns and am totally focused now upon looking nice when I go to the office.
I have a good feel for how women dress there, and I'll be making every effort to be consistent with that standard - much as anyone else should when entering a new workplace.
