I guess that I am "preaching to the choir" to some degree, but I just want to pass on a few of things I have learned the hard way. If you dress and go out and carry a purse a few essential items you may want to consider. 1. a nail file - I have snagged a couple of pairs of hose with "hangnails" I could easily have saved. 2. Tissues/hanky, I go to movies and sometimes (Cold Mountain) get "misty eyed" KEEP YOUR HANDS AWAY FROM YOUR FACE AT ALL TIMES! A tissue comes in handy.3. As I posted on another thread, I call ahead to find out what the admission cost is and have that exact amount readily available and accessible in my purse as I may be standing in line with people behind me and the last thing I want is to be fumbling around in my purse and billfold trying to get money out, then it all falls on the sidewalk and it really can get ugly after that. 4. Oh probably a small mirror (we have discussed the potential major problems of using a/the restroom). We girls need to make sure our make-up looks good. Of course using the visor mirror or rear-view mirror in the car is sexy too.
PS: I have never dropped my purse, but I have seen GG's do it. I would not want ot face that - gheesh the things that roll out on the floor. (Stay calm BEAUTY) but believe it or not I actually saw a GG prowling through her purse and she got mad and began laying things out on the counter and out came - yeah, you guessed it - a personal viabrator! I was impressed though she was not the least bit purterbed about it.

I am glad you are better prepared than I am. Unfortunately when I get a run it looks more like a four lane highway so no repair will surfice. Its back to the drawer and open a new pair. Uh?? what's the pen light for?

I can definitely relate to the four lane superhighway. I had cats for 18 years, and a certain neighbor cat is threatening to adopt us.

The penlight (at my half-blind middle age) is so I can see what I brought with me in my purse, the ignition key slot, the compass, whatever I just dropped on the floor behind the seat, and I suppose so I can Morse Code for help if I flip over and get trapped in the wreckage. After you've flown x-country with your SO at night in a rental airplane in MVFR not far enough from level three CumuloNimbus, and you forgot where the darn dimmer control for the panel lights is, you become very attached to your penlight.

Cheryl Ann: My wife does that with her castoffs. So, I only get to do that with my own castoffs! But you are absolutely right about convenience! Great point!

Hi! Thanks and I can relate. However when I left the Navy, I went into "and leave the driving to us" mode. I did keep my "knee=board: for a while thinking it might come in handy some day - it didn't and it has since been misplaced (kneeboard was a small clipboard with a built in light that pilots could strap to their thigh to do vectors , winddots, other plotting exercises). This was in the late 60's and compared to today's planes - we were in the stoneage!
Don't think I would have gotton very far walking across the flight deck with a purse slung over my shoulder either.

Thank you for the hints. From one who only goes out occasionally, all tip are useful. I'd used the clear polish before but the light does sound like a good idea.
