Pierced ears...it is something I have wanted for years once I finally came to accept who I am. I am someone with an expansive sense of who I am. While on balance I lean male..
I bleed well into the female range at times while not being either fully.
And so another goal has been met.
I'm bad backside! Up there with Rod Stewart and Buffett lol...

Re: Finally got my ears pierced.
THAT'S GREAT ANNE!!!!
Glad to hear it. Getting my ears pierced, and being finally able to wear "real" jewelry was a great point in my life. I don't know why, can't explain it, but having pierced ears just really made me feel satisfied like I was a real woman now. OK, I do know that I'm not not truly a real woman, but I can pretend, yes???
I have to warn you though, once you get going on the jewelry kick the old bank account will crash!!! But hey, the other option is to let Wall Street have all your money, so I say buy yourself some diamonds!!!!!!!!

Re: Finally got my ears pierced.
It is...difficult to....all I can say is that I am very glad that I have done it. I intend to give the posts a full 2 months...I want those holes to be absolutely fully healed and permanent for the rest of my life. I do have some lightning bolt studs, and My wife has left me many ear rings to choose from...gold and silver hoops primarily which I do like and I also intend of course to purchase ear rings of my very own. Along with longer hair which allows me to wear a truly feminine hair style, dangling ear rings and make up make me flawless and it is wonderful when my mind is there to truly be a woman mentally.

I couldn't leave mine alone the specified 2 months. My ears started to get inflamed and sore. So what I did was take them out, work some antibiotic salve into the hole and coat the posts with it, and then put them back in. The little bottle of cleaning solution they gave me was useless. But any decent antibiotic ointment should be fine. One of my daughters had the same problem.

I am so glad...well I am an RN after all so I understand it all. I have had absolutely no problem what so ever with my stainless posts or new piercings....I wash my hands, only touch the site with ear swabs drenched in the saline solution recommended twice daily rotating away from the posts and one side for the front and the other for the back using two swabs one per ear that's 4 sprays of saline 1 per end...I never touch the sites and they are absolutely perfect here at 4 weeks...I believe the most critical period would have been the first couple weeks...at 6 weeks I will stop with the swabs then continue to wear them another two weeks to be absolutely sure they are completely and fully healed.
I now have absolutely no problem wearing ear rings in public as I have been for nearly a month! No one even remarks or seems to notice just seem to take me as I am and have always been. It is not uncommon for men to have pierced ears.
Can't wait until I can wear my little gold lightning bolt shaped zaps on each ear lobe some ear rings I bought last year!!!
So I fully believe I will have absolutely no problem what so ever and although I am ... my wife died April 7 this year...gosh will carry a life long grief...but she left me many nice ear rings...gold hoops, silver hoops, and dangley ones like parrots, christmas bulbs, indian nickles with feathers hanging from them...etc and I fully intend of course to shop for any I would like to wear too!

Re: Finally got my ears pierced.
Good for you Anne, getting your ears pierced opens up so many beautiful earring options. I pierced my own ears using one of the Studex piercing kits. Easy to do and as long as you follow the aftercare instructions you'll have no problems. I pierced mine with the sole intention of wearing the last set of earrings my wife made before she passed. A flat copper spiral which have developed a lovely patina.
One wears a mask for so long you forget who you are beneath it......I've now removed my mask.
