I first started dressing at age 5, but I remember my father telling me as a child (maybe when I was 8 or 9) about the time he and my mother got into a huge argument because I wanted a doll carriage to play with; she thought I should have it, he refused. I was only about 2 at the time, and I have no recollection at all about it.
The first time I remember thinking consciously about gender was when I was about 4; one of the girls in the neighborhood and I got into a spat, and she pushed me and I pushed her back. I was immediately scolded for hitting a girl, and when I tried to argue my case with my mother, she repeated, firmly, "But she's a girl!"
When did you discover gender

I don't remember what age I was, maybe around 5 or 6, but a bunch of my cousins we're visiting. We all got into one of those "boys are better than girls/girls are better than boys argument" and I remember one of my female cousins said something along the lines of "Yeah, well girls are better than boys cause we can wear make up and pretty jewelry and stuff". My male cousins we're just like "Pfft, who cares". I think that event was probably the one responsible for planting those thoughts in my head.
