Interesting question and thought

I have to admit, the way traffic has dropped off on this site, and apparently other crossdressing sites, has really given me pause. Why is this?
One thing that I noticed was back about July of 1996, when I had just discovered TRI-ESS, and was able to go to meetings with many other men, who also were crossdressers. It was the first time I really felt comfortable and connected with the activity. I felt normal in a sense as all these guys and their families knew and were good with crossdressing.
But about the time I got going with it, the whole Transgender thing was kicking off. . the group and the entire nationwide organaization fell apart within a few years. It seemed many of those "affirmed crossdressers" decided they wanted to be women.
It seems that a percentage (and I have no idea of the numbers) soon discovered that changing sex, cutting off their male bits, and trying to turn it into the receiving bin, just did't work as well as they thought or had been told. . likewise, the cross sex hormones caused their own assortment of problems that were unanticipated.
I wish I could find a few of those people and actually talk to them. . find the true reasons for their detransitions, and dropping out. Did they go for the whole enchalada? Maybe just implants and cross sex hormones for a while?
Who knows.
But what does cause me to question is, where are all the newer younger crossdressers? They have been a constant for years. . .mostly hiding in previous generations. But today?
I suspect most of them have been Pilled. . .beliving they were TRANSGENDER from the word Go, and never considering just being a crossdresser. They get caught up in the transgender machanary of the political side and power associated, and end up jumping in head first, before realizing the ramificaitions of their actions.
Many likely discover they have made a grevious error. A bit of research reveals that:
"National surveys indicate that approximately 8% to 13.1% of transgender adults report having detransitioned temporarily or permanently at some point in their lives." Wow. . just wow. One wonders how happy the other 92 to 86.9% ended up? I kinda doubt they are all just thrilled with the surgical and hormonal results. . often left in a permenant wasteland of neiter male or female. . but I admit that is speculation as I have not researched the literature, assuming there is any good literature.
Anyone have any thoughts to share? -Wesley
