Hello girls, I had an amusing situation like that once. I was in Target buying three pairs of black tights, black bra, and a pair of men's jeans. The store was busy and there were lines at the cash-reg, I thought no problem I've done this a few times already. When I got to the cashier, the lady grabbed the jeans sort of violently and the tights and bra went flying all over the place. Now everyone is looking as I try to find everything, I even imagined I heard the loadspeaker say- We have a mess in register 4, need someone to clean-up, so more people will come over to look. When I managed to get everything together, instead of being embarassed, I laughed and couldn't stop laughing, the cashier was also laughing. Ithink she did it on purpose, but no harm done, I'm still here.

The only time I ever got a negative remark while shopping for women's apparel was when I was on my honeymoon in New York about 10 years ago. My wife and I were in a women's lingerie shop and my wife was in one area of the shop and me in another shopping for panties. While I was busy trying to find my size in my favorite style and brand, an older women who was also shopping in the same section made a snotty remark to me about shopping for items I had no business shopping for...like it was any of HER business to begin with. Without missing a beat I said to her "jealous?" She looked somewhat startled by my comment and walked away without saying another word. I have to admit, I rather enjoyed the way I handled it as I don't know if I could have handled it that well when I was a lot younger.
I find now that I am so focused on what I am shopping for that I really don't pay any attention at all as to whether or not people are staring at me or giving me disapproving looks. To hell with them I say and MYOB!
xoxoxoxox,

I was in Wal-Mart fully dressed about a week ago and I was browsing the sale rack in the women's department and woman came in my direction with her child in the shopping cart.
She saw me, looked away and said "we need to go to the boys department, this ain't working for me"
Which I kinda made me laugh, but I thought she acted appropriately. I mean if someone is annoying you, go somewhere else. What I found funny was her need to loudly verbally express herself where no one could hear but me. As if she were single handedly going to change me with her comments.
Anyway, that is the only thing I have had happen ever that could even remotely be considered bad, while purchasing women's clothes.
Love always,
Elizabeth

I would have thought that she was joking around at first... In the past I have had many cashiers and customers jokingly say, that color/size won't fit, and I just laughed along.
Today, I would just look em dead in the eye & say "These are for me." I'm silly like that...
It's fun to watch their reactions!!

If some snotty woman is unconfortable with a man shopping in the women's department, the problem is all HERS. She doesn't know why we're there or who we're shopping for, and its none of their concern. Do we mutter under our breath when we see women shopping for mens underwear? No we do not.
Any female stranger who has ever had a problem with a man shopping in the womens deptartment for whatever reason needs to get a grip.
Okay, that's it...

I have bought clothing and lingerie for my wife for almost 25 years before I strated buying the same kind of things for myself, and don't remember ever getting any hassles from salespeople or other shoppers.
The most hassle I ever had was from a young salelady in the lingerie dept of a Lord and Taylor store when she tried to convince me that my wife would prefer a $90 nightgown and robe to one of the bra and panty sets I was looking at. Everything they had that I liked was out of my price range, anyway. This was about 2 years ago and I don't remember ever going back there.

I was shopping at WalMart (my hangout) last fall, and I had bought myself a complete outfit - blouse, top, shoes, tights and a purse, plus some cosmetics. At the checkout, the lady in front of me saw my purchases, and asked, "Special occasion?" I said, "No, more of an impulse buy." She replied, "That's awfully nice of you, to buy those things for your girlfriend." Pause. Then she said, "Pardon me for saying so, but isn't she a little large?"
I replied, "These are for me." She turned about six different shades, struggled for words, and finally turned away from me. She ignored me until she finished checking out, then hurried away.
The cashier smiled, and said, "You were just giving her what-for, weren't you?" I just grinned.

It is funny now to read myself from the past.
Their was a day that I had decided to buy my first outfit. I went to the Fashion Bug in town and was looking around. This sales lady would not leave me alone, I explained that I was looking for something for my wife's birthday which I was buying an outfit for also. Well I would look around and here she would be at me again. I was very uncomfortable but there was a top I wanted for me an another one I wanted for my wife. Was looking for the pants or shorts to match when for the tenth time here she comes again. Well I tell that if I am going to be bother this much that I am going to leave without buying these two tops when i was going to buy the pants and under things also. Well her boss heard me and she got in trouble and the tops were free. I only had to pay for the pants and under things.
I have been in the same store three more things and that lady has just said Hi what are you looking for today. One more point I was not the only one she was driving crazy that day.
Gee.

I usally have a little note always in my pocket with size numbers on it and sometimes look at when I am in the womans department (or I did when I first stated shoping) I would often refer to a costumer or the employ if they can help because I could not figure out what all these numbers ment. (I of course was lying to hide me being outed) now I often if I am shopping in the same store as I usauly do I look for same sales ladies as I often deal with and find it a lot more comftable.
Early this year when I was vegas I was doing some shopping at a stoere called the dress shop (kind of an outlit store fore dresses I guess) and after getting of the courage I asked the one of the sales ladies who did not look to busy or the one who seamed the most open minded (closer to my age I guess) and flat out asked her if she could help with me find a dress. She was happy to help. She also tells me about how before a big divas convention (I am guessing) happins there they have large gathering of transgenders come into the store.

I only remember twice having anyone comment on my purchase. The first time I was in Indiana in the winter and bought a box of thigh-hi's and the girl at check out said "I bet these will look sexy on you" I replied "I hope so!" She just smiled in a shy way. The other time was also in a Wal-Mart but I can't remember just were, as I get farmed out to a Wal-Mart DC to do store deliveries, shuttling trailers from the DC to the stores for re stock and I'll go to a lot of stores in a week, and some times while I'm there I'll actually have time to shop. Any way, after I got my groceries, I think I needed something from the crafts section or automotive and I was going down the back isle to get there and passed the associates putting some things on a clearance rack. I noticed a black dress and a pink floral print summer dress. On the way back through I just had to stop and have a closer look. I splurged and put both of them in my basket. One of the older, middle aged women associates, asked as I was walking away,(loud enough for all the others to here her) if I thought they would fit me? I just smiled and said I sure hope so! They all giggled and I smiled and I'm sure blushed all the way out of the store. They do fit just fine
