>I had my second LightSheer(tm) treatment a few days ago. The first treatment did a great job. There were some places she missed so the second treatment seems to have gotten those.
>My operator said to expect a big appearance of regrowth between the second and third treatments. She said that, in her experience, that is the time when you see the most hair seem to reappear. She said that actually it is hair from folicles that were dormant during the previous treatments.
>The owner of the place I go to asked me if I was doing anything to surpress testosterone and I said "No." She said that meant that the results would not be as good as a genetic woman's or as someone with surpressed testosterone. Guess I'll have to wait and see. Since I'm much more of a CD rather than TS, I'm not really likely to start hormones.
>At the moment I have far less shadow and think I could begin to get away without concealer. That would be so great!
>On the other hand, if you are thinking about laser, do it while you are young! I have a great many more coarse grey/transparent hairs than I realized! Unless I get them removed I will always have to continue to shave. Bummer! Also, now I'm beginning to get some increased pattern baldness and I wonder if I'll get rid of my beard in time to loose my hair! Bummer II!
>I have heard a rumor that there is some chemical that will color grey hair down to the root so the laser can get it. My operator said she would try to find out about it but that she normally doesn't like chemical treatments of any kind. (Could it be Melancor?

>As to the pain, well, for me, even after the numbing creme, each zap feels like a staple being shot into my face and the zaps are about 1/4" inch apart. Ouch! You can actually smell the singed hair. But, although I hate to quote the French, "Il faut suffrir pour etre belle" [One must suffer to be beautiful].
>I am lucky in that I am going along with one of my GG friends who is having some facial hair zapped off. So we stay with each other, chat with the operator, etc.
>I sure hope I end up looking beautiful! And I wish the same to everyone who tries it!
>Thanks to the gorgeous MzzBeauty, to the terrific Penny T, and to all the others who were part of the earlier archived thread.

Hi Sandy!
I'm happy to hear about your treatment

Laser is exciting isn't it?!?
I was glad to hear your first treatment went well! Now the board can hear from two people who've had really good success after their first treatment. I think you're going to be very pleased when you go back for your third.
I go for my 3rd treatment this week. When I shave it's really more like shaving areas instead of a beard. I shave such a small areas it's funny.
Well, today I was dreading putting on makeup. I showered and shaved about three very small patches of hair. There was no need to shave my entire face. So, I pulled out some facial powder and voila! That was all I needed. I didn't need to cake anything on. I do understand now why it's better to put on foundation first. The powder seems to come out more even.
I now understand how women can just put on light makeup and still look femme, but you can't tell they have makeup on. I then applied a little eye shadow. I put my hair in a ponytail and got dressed.
Anyone who is considering getting rid of facial hair, please know getting dressed and putting on makeup is a WHOLE lot easier!!! The last time I was made up it was because I had a professional makeover. As usual taking it off took forever. It's taking makeup off that is always so tedious for me. When I go to bed, I'd like to be able to wash my face and towel off and that be it. I think I'll be dressing more now that I've just discovered how much simpler it is to put on makeup.
Ok, back to laser hair removal.
I totally recommend using some kind of numbing cream. It does sting, so be prepared. Because I have more melanin in my skin my laser is more like a heavy zap but it's shorter. This is because my skin heats up quicker than skin with less melanin in it. My skin heats up because the hair is being zapped with a laser. The CoolGlide laser gets my skin super cool and so it doesn't get too hot. For lighter skin a lower zap (sorry, don't know the correct term) is used and the laser is left on longer. Either way it still stings and so I suggest you use a topical creme.
I can't wait to give the board an update about my 3rd treatment and Sandy I can't wait to hear how your's went!!!!
I can't tell you how smooth my face is and I really enjoy kissing my wife more because I don't feel like my stubble is poking her face. I almost press my face into hers... lol!
The regrowth has been much less after my second treatment. At first I didn't think so because as usual, after the treatment the hair grows out thicker. This gives the illusion as if there is more hair, but when it starts falling out you see it wasn't a large amount of hair. I would think that doesn't have to do with the type of laser, but it's hard to say really. My laserologist also did a great job on the first treatment and I think. Sandy, I'll be looking forward to hearing if more hair grew back for you this time.
I have to agree with others who said having more testosterone is probably better during hair removal treatments. I feel now I can be sure my hair is gone for good because I have no testosterone blocking going on right now. If I do ever take a testosterone blocker and stop, it would be awesome to know my facial hair isn't going to re-appear.
I agree with you about getting laser while you're younger. This way you can be sure you get the majority of your hairs.
Yes, you can smell the singed hair. Now I welcome the smell because I think of it as "bye, bye hair"
That's really cool you're going with friends to have your treatment. I tend to get their right on time. The first time I went I felt really nervous, the next time I went I didn't feel that nervous or subconscious about being there. To me now, it's like, "Whatever!"
I'm sure you'll end up looking just a gorgeous as you want to!!!
Thank you for your really nice comment.
Here's to laser!
Yours lovingly,
Beauty
