I have 5 inches of snow over 2 inches of sleet/freezing rain. Snow has stopped but it is below freezing today. May be above freezing tomorrow. Another storm on the way about Wednesday.
This is our 2nd storm with 5 inches or more of snow since Christmas Eve (which was the first). I consider us lucky that we did not lose power this time. Last time we did that was 2007 in our area (OKC). Some towns did lose power, including the one where my mother is in a nursing home, but they have back up generators and all is well there. The town I grew up in has @600 people without electricity.
The latter snow was wetter and sticks to vertical surfaces, like tree trunks and garage doors! It's pretty and has not drifted too much, but I am ready for it to be gone for some other year.

Hi, all -
Well, we received 15" of white precipitation from this snow storm, with another 2-4" due through tomorrow. The first storm of 12-18-09 hit us with 24" of snow, and VDOT didn't get our road plowed for 3 days, and as we live literally on the side of and almost at the top of a mountain, we don't drive on the road until it's plowed.
Anne, when you're through shoveling your 4" of snow, feel free to come down here and shovel to your heart's content!!

Up near Canada (So Close we can smell em)
In Spokane WA and the Pacific Northwest after 2 years of Record Snows we have
Self Clearing Snow (Rain). We had 3" once (melted that day).
The Governor signed law that said all Snow to go East and or stay in the Mtns (Real Mtns not like back east).
Olympics in 2 weeks and no snow there. Same as here.
No one is Complaining that I hear. We got 8'+ Plus last year. Lasted forever too!

Well, we didn't get the extra 2-4" of snow as predicted, lucky us. Surprisingly, though, VDOT came through this morning and plowed our road . . . now all I have to do is "convince" (ie, strong-arm) Virginia that our driveway *must* be shoveled today, too.
Therein lies the difficulty: our driveway is very steep, and if it doesn't get shoveled (we don't have a tractor, plow, or blade) then we can't drive up on it; going down is not a problem!
Which means that we have to walk up and down the driveway each day, in 15+ inches of snow, until the darn stuff melts enough to drive up it, and that could be 2 weeks.
That just is not going to happen this time around, as that driveway, deep snow, and my asthma just do not get along.
Virginia, dear, here's your jacket, boots, and gloves, you get your shovel and I'll get mine . . . the driveway is calling our names!!
If you don't hear from us by tonight, someone call for help, okay?

Well, your tongue in my ear has me mostly convinced, let me see if I can find my 4" heeled boots and .......... what do you mean my mini skirt is too tight to shovel snow? I'll bet if that snow plow comes by and I show him some leg he will do our drive way and if I wink at him, he may even pave it for us! Shovel 200' of steep driveway in 30 degree cloudless sky in a mini skirt, yes that it what I am looking forward to!
Well, here goes nuttin!!!!!
Loved you all!

Oklahoma is changing the words to the State Song. It now goes like this: (sing to the tune of Oklahoma! the broadway show)
SNOW.......klahoma
Where the cold front's sweepin' down the plain
And the piles of sleet, beneath your feet
Follow right behind the freezing rain.
SNOW.......klahoma
Ev'ry night my honey lamb and I
Travel home from work and hope some jerk
Doesn´t wreck our car in passing by!
We know we belong to the land
But it sure needs some more salt and more sand!
That´s why we say.....WHOA!
We´re sliding the other way.......YIKES!
We´re only sayin´
You´re slick as snot SNOWklahoma
SNOWklahoma
SNOW-K-L-A-H-O-M-A
SNOWklahoma, SNOW-K!

I have shoveled the sidewalk may times wearing a long skirt. I even braved using the snowblower on a couple of occasions but only once made the mistake of wearing a knee length skirt while doing so.
The mistake, it was rather windy and the snowblower was aimed the wrong way and the wind sent a large amount of snow back at me and up under my skirt. It was .... how can I put this delicately .... I sort of ended up with frozen assets so to speak. Fortunately, I was wearing pantyhose and that helped some, but I learned my lesson - quickly.
To tell you the truth, wearing a long skirt while clearing snow is actually warmer than wearing blue jeans.
