Gender Dysphoria Test

Post by Beauty »

Hi there,

This is a test that I'd taken a few years ago. I took it again and got the same results . . . I think. :) I know I was a four last time too.

It's 65 question test, so don't think it's a quickie.

I'd be interested to see what your scores were though.

Here are my results.
==============================================
Your COGIATI result value is: 270 Which means that you fall within the following category:

COGIATI classification FOUR, PROBABLE TRANSSEXUAL

What this means is that the Combined Gender Identity And Transsexuality Inventory has classified your internal gender identity to be essentially feminine, but with some masculine or androgynous traits. It is very possible that you are a candidate for a diagnosis of transsexualism. You show a strong degree of gender dysphoria. At the very least, further investigation should be undertaken.

The suggestions for your circumstance are several.

1. It is recommended that you seek help from a sympathetic counselor or professional about your gender issues . . . While you are very possibly a transsexual, COGIATI has determined that this is not absolutely certain.

2. Some actions may help you to define your needs more clearly. Keep in mind that while it is very likely that you might be a transsexual, it is not certain. Do not take severe or permanent actions without long thought and the help of counselors and professionals.

3. Your gender issues are real, and should not be ignored. Neither should you rush into acting on them, however powerful they may feel. You do not fit the full criterion for the rarest classification, classic transsexuality, and so should be cautious, and open to possibilities. You may yet end up undergoing transition, and the path of the transsexual may well be your salvation. Be very careful, but do not ignore your issues.

4. If you have not already, consider joining any of the thousands of groups devoted to gender expression of various kinds. There is literally a world of friends to discover who share your interests. There are also publications, vacations, and activities that would expand your gender expression.

==============================================
I edited down some of the suggestions.

FYI it's just a test that seems to tell me I do have gender dysphoria.

I know I will not get surgery to become a TS. I don't feel that I'm trapped in the wrong body, but I know I'm more than just a person who wears femme clothing. My personality has lots of femme traits.

I hope this doesn't scare anyone. :(

If you take the test, unless you are identified as a classic TS, then I don't think you need to worry about anything. :)

This test DOES NOT determine if you are a TS. It can disputed to the umpteenth degree. So there's no need to debate that point. Though I can't stop those who may want to debate it anyway. ;)

The
COMBINED GENDER IDENTITY AND TRANSSEXUALITY INVENTORY
( COGIATI )

RESULTS

Your COGIATI result value is: -80 Which means that you fall within the following category:

COGIATI classification THREE, ANDROGYNE
What this means is that the Combined Gender Identity And Transsexuality Inventory has classified your internal gender identity to be essentially androgynous, both male and female at the same time, or possibly neither.
In some cultures in history, you would be considered to be a third sex, independent of the polarities of masculine or feminine. Your gender issues are intrinsic to your construction, and you will most likely find your happiness playing with expressing both genders as you feel like it.
===============================================

Well I thought so.

Boy that was a tedious test, but yet very interesting. I think it got me pretty accurately. Here is my results:

Your COGIATI result value is: -160 Which means that you fall within the following category:

COGIATI classification TWO, FEMININE MALE
What this means is that the Combined Gender Identity And Transsexuality Inventory has classified your internal gender identity to be mostly masculine, and that your gender issues are primarily matters of personal expression rather than a medical problem. Any struggles you have are most likely caused by internal shame over your needs and desires, or because of curiosity over what those needs represent. There is, however, some indication of a strong feminine side to your being, and this is intrinsic to your constitution.

Hey Shannon,

How cool is that? :) Meaning, how cool is it that you feel it's accurate. I feel the same about mine.

Did you think it would be something else? Were you afraid the results would show something else I mean?

Now I'm really interested in seeing other results. I thought the norm was going to be in the positives. I'm feeling rather alone now. :(

Help!! :) ;)

Beauty, I'm starting to think that while I might be a girl, I might also be somewhat of a tomboy . . . :?

Hi Alexandra,

I'm with you on that.

If I was a GG I'd be quite lesbian. :) I don't know if "quite lesbian" is a term, but I'm not interested in men, so I too would be tomboy with a curve.

One day they will put enough time in to us and break gender away from sexual orientation.

I'd be super happy to be a tomboy though, so why the long face? :( You don't like the idea?

Hi all,

COGIATI results:

Your COGIATI result value is: 175 Which means that you fall within the following category:

COGIATI classification FOUR, PROBABLE TRANSSEXUAL
What this means is that the Combined Gender Identity And Transsexuality Inventory has classified your internal gender identity to be essentially feminine, but with some masculine or androgynous traits. It is very possible that you are a candidate for a diagnosis of transsexualism. You show a strong degree of gender dysphoria. At the very least, further investigation should be undertaken. Your COGIATI score places you among the majority of those diagnosed as transsexuals, the 'late onset' transsexual.

Well, that's a bit of a surprise for me. I've always considered myself just a crossdresser. I mean, it's something I only do on a part-time basis, for cryin' out loud! :? Perhaps the fact that I've incorporated many typically feminine behavioural traits (compassion, gentleness, consensus-seeking, love of words, face recognition, etc.) into my male personality has something to do with it? Well, an interesting test, to be sure....

By the way, I decided to have a little bit of fun with the Gender Genie. I posted the following text. Is the author male or female?

The Flowers Around Here Are Pretty!: An Ode To Beauty

Many have said it before, I know. Yet, these fragile red roses bear witness to the marvelous ingenuity, the splendid beauty, or even the intricate complexity, of nature. Those who love beauty have often said that it is truth, or that truth is beauty; as a lover of beauty, I agree. What is more, as a lover of truth, I believe these words themselves are beautiful--those who hear them can almost feel beauty wrap itself around their very souls. It is, after all, beauty that provides the impetus to love, to cherish, to hold. Whenever the circumstances are just right, the beauty I find in this world manifests itself just below the threshhold of my awareness--my aesthetic awareness, that is. The fact that beauty courts us, so to speak, in this particular way is a sign that what our senses tell us is just too little to appreciate the vast wonders of the sensual world. At most, our senses can only hint at the thing in itself; they but forever show us a pale reflection of the world around us! As a woman who is caring, sensitive, joyful, benign, compassionate, loving--these are all qualities, by the way, that aren't, indeed never were, the exclusive province of those to the weaker sex born--as a woman who is all these things, I say, I find that I am exquisitely attuned to the subtle vibrations the world around us throws my way. It really is a gift! At times, I am so overwhelmed by the sensual richness (or the rich sensuality) that surrounds us that I feel I am on the verge of fainting! Watching a kitten play, or holding it in my hand, listening to it purr, I truly feel my connection to both what lay above us as well as below us. Seeing children laugh as they run or playfully taunt each other in the park brings tears of joy to my eyes. Letting the soft, silky sand of a sun-drenched beach sift through my fingers (according to Blake, a whisper of worlds without end), I feel as though I am touching the very fabric of reality itself. Hearing the lonely call of the white wolf at night comes near to breaking my heart. All these things are things of beauty, things of the most profound yet subtle truth. I listen always for this truth; I thirst always for this beauty, because, at the heart of this attentive hunger lies the meaning of our existence. Here, I find always the happiness that seems so elusive, yet is always there. Happiness is simply this: one must truly think or believe to the very depths of one's soul that never has there been something so beautiful as a wild gathering of red, red roses.

Female Score: 0 :!:
Male Score: 1281
The Gender Genie thinks the author of this passage is: male!

Love,
CJ

You know, I've been thinking about that a bit . . . and I'm starting to think a "lesbian tomboy" might actually describe me to a "T". Although I have a closet full of skirts and stuff, I'm more likely to wear jeans, sneakers and a female's leather jacket (along with a sports bra) when I go "out."

I also think it'll be cool to play baseball in drag  (I have a decent fast ball but I hit the batter a lot  )

So maybe you're right Beauty, I'll change my :? to :)
