Well, the thing is, the bride & groom are paying for the entire wedding on their own, no help from their families whatsoever. And the bride has an ENORMOUS family. :?

Hey, I can get them a much cheaper gift.

Plus I can still get my groove on at the reception, even though I'll be en drab... at least my GG friend will be there to accompany me! I can't wait to see her face when she sees me en drab for the first time!! :wink:

That just may be a realistic option at this point.

Tonight I went out to pick up my tux ($140), and then suddenly the groom-to-be wanted to go out for dinner & drinks. Even though there were 8 of us, my other friend was in the same boat moneywise; he has 3 kids & can't just jump up to spend money at the drop of a hat.

Then after dinner when they brought the check, the groom's younger brother (good kid, but annoyed me with the following statement:) had the nerve to say "Oh, the groom shouldn't have to pay for his own dinner!"

F THAT. I'm unemployed since May.

I immediately said to him, "If you want to, then YOU put up the extra cash!"

The little bastard...he tried to be slick. But I wasn't having it.

Okay, I feel the final traces of "inhibition" fading away right now. I just had dinner with some old friends who are so loud they make me seem like a tame quiet little bunny by comparison.

Ask me to run naked thru a public area, and I just might do that right now. :mrgreen:
