3/26/12 - Photo Gallery issue
I believe I've identified what's happening. Sometime in the past, before either the gallery upgrade or the forum upgrades, people set their albums to be "viewable only by me". Obviously, this setting should not prevent someone from seeing their own album, but that's what was happening. I've reset this visibility value on a few albums this morning (Leeza, PhylissH, SilverLady(SO)) and those albums should now appear publicly in the User Galleries listing.
If your album is not shown and you want it visible to everyone post a message here and I will reset the visibility of it. Otherwise, I must assume that you truly wanted your album kept "private" from other users.

Caith & SL ---
Upgrade looks great! Personally, I am delighted with all the new features.
So far no bugs that I have noticed.
I appreciate all the work that went into this upgrade - Well worth it.
Congratulations !!!!!
Hugs

If I understand you correctly, the "Public" setting only means any and all logged-in users of the Forum.
Obviously, the Gallery's settings should be set so that only logged-in members may access it, and it is not accessible by the general public, bots, spiders and the like.
If that is not correct, then that should be corrected so that all albums are set to Members of the 'REGISTERED' group by (overriding) default - because 99% of our members are in that group; the remaining 1% will be "New Registered Users" meaning, those members with 5 posts or less.
Personally, my Gallery is now set to the 'REGISTERED' group setting.
Thank you for your work on our Gallery, you are a God-send to us!!

Just want to add my thanks to SL and Caith. Lots and lots of work - and it's appreciated.

My gallery is still completely blank.
Caith, can you restore it or should I upload again?
Thanks

I'm guessing you meant Cindy Barnes? It's easy enough to correct, but I need the full username.Susan wrote:Thanks Caith but I still think others are missing, for example Cindy

We have three Cindys here at the board.

Because I personally don't know which users want their albums public, until they tell me so.Susan wrote:Yes Caith

If I simply set everyone's albums to public access, it would be far too easy to make a mistake.
I'd rather hammer in a few small nails, than take a sledge hammer to the entire gallery.

Ladies, and specifically Susan -
If any members wish to have their gallery album setting changed - from private to public or any of the other choices - then they must individually contact Caith or myself via PM. Failure of any member to contact us will result in their album settings remaining set to 'private' as advised by Caith, above.
We will not change the settings for the entire gallery and all the albums because some of our members have previously set their album to private, and we will honor their settings as they set them that way for a reason. Making accusations and/or allegations - "are we being selective?" - is deplorable and will stop immediately.
Requests from one member for another - such as Susan's request regarding one of our "Cindy" members, above - will NOT be considered. Period.

When I left the job, the Gallery was not visible to search engines like Google or Bing, or anyone who was not logged in.
I just wondered why an additional layer of filtering was needed, I meant no disrespect in my comment.

Hi Caith--
At one point there was discussion about seeing the posts from the last day, week, month, and so on. It took us a while to get those features on the old format. Are they within our reach on this one? I can't remember what was said about that subject now, or where it was said. I looked for the topic in the admin/moderator's section, but it wasn't discussed there. Maybe we talked about it on the beta posts, which are now long gone.
