13th Visit

Post by Beauty »

Hi,

Well, the 13th visit was kind of interesting. I wasn't able to find the topical cream I normally use before the laser treatments. So I was kind of panicked because I'm not that good with pain. :( The last time I tried that was my 4th laser treatment I believe. #-o OUCH!! #-o So when I went in the office I told my laserologist about it and she felt for me, but there was nothing she could do. It was too late even if she had any.

She looked at the hairs that had grown in and told me she was going to have to up the heat to get those because the hairs were so fine (what I've been calling light). Now I know as a good describer I should have asked for a better explanation, but I just trust her so much I didn't even think about doing it. At the time I was more worried about the pain. :)

She went to something called 50/7 from 50/10 or I have it reversed. She increased the amount of heat she said and the laser was more focused/direct. She told me that my complexion was light enough that it wouldn't damage my skin. Naturally when I thought about more heat I thought more pain. More zap! 8-[ She cleared the hair away with a bic razor (no shaving cream or anything) it was just light hair. I was so cringing when I saw her pick up the laser. When she started I thought back to when I was in tears once for not putting on topical cream. :(

I was wrong for being afraid and thank God she was right about the higher setting. She told me I was kind of going to be someone to test that setting because she doesn't have that many people with my skin tone. She said she has either darker skinned or more fair skinned customers. Since it was Rhonda, I didn't mind being an experiment. If you don't mind I'd like to digress a little more. She told me that when she first started treating me because I did have color in my skin she was treating me more like a person with a darker complexion so she wouldn't burn my skin. Over the course of my treatments she's told me the more she's upped the setting the more she's learned because my skin was able to handle higher heat without burning.

One last thing and then I promise I'm back to the appointment. She got a phone call when she'd finished the right cheek. I did notice that my face felt a lot warmer than it had previously. On the other side of that, thankfully, I didn't even have to apply an ice pack after we were done. Weird, eh? :-k

Anyhoo, she told me it shouldn't hurt as much at this setting of higher heat and it didn't. =D> I was very happy. I was still worried though because we hadn't gotten to the true sensitive areas. The true sensitive area are around the lip. Well again she was right. :) I can't believe how much it didn't hurt. It felt better than any time before that, even with the topical cream. :) If I told you I'm sensitive to pain (the thought of plucking eye brows causes sweats) it would be an understatement. :) So I'm telling you it really didn't hurt.

The other thing that was interesting was how little the laser fired off. Over the upper lip it only fired off in two places. It fired off where the nostrils connect. When I say fire off it was like in the time it takes the sound of snapping fingers, maybe even less? When she went over the areas on my chin and lower cheeks, where hair had grown, it went off and we both were like, "We got you, you little buggers." :) I could even smell the hair burning and she saw them eject too. Rhonda is just the best! :)

She saw hairs that I couldn't see above the top of my lip. She said they were really fine, but she zapped those too. When she zapped those I just knew I was going to shriek without the topical cream, but I didn't. :)

Well, lets see what happens over the next three months. :) That will bring me squarely into July, which will mark the anniversary of me not using my electric razor or any razor to shave. :) I'm hoping my next landmark will be, "The last time I had a laser hair appointment was X months ago." :)

Thanks for reading. :) I hope this helps those who are considering or have started laser treatments. [-o<

Hi, :)

Well it was 3 months and 19 days before I visited my laserologist again. :) Not bad, huh? :)

I went back because I could feel hair on the corners of my mouth with my tongue, but I couldn't see them in the mirror. Luckily she saw them and zapped 'em good!

I had an area to on the left side of my face, close to the corner of my mouth, that had a teeny patch (half the size of a dime) of sparse hairs growing in a patch too. The only other place a few hairs were growing, again very sparse and fine hairs was along my jawline. It wasn't enough to even consider shaving and you'd have to be right up on me to even see them.

Thankfully I didn't have to use any numbing cream, just like last time. It didn't really hurt because there wasn't anything to zap.

Since it has been two years and all I asked her how much I owed her. I was in shock with the amount.. I may never go back! I'm kidding. :) It was only $50.

I have to say that my 2 year journey is about at an end regarding facial hair and I'm glad it's over. I can't imagine anymore what it's like to have facial hair and to be honest I don't want to.

It's been over a year since I've shaved my face.
*-*
So the next time I update this thread I'm hoping it's in December. :) It's so weird to realize the last time I updated this thread was in April.

Take care and thank you for reading! :) As always, if you have any questions please feel free to ask.

Hi,

So I missed December by 5 days :).

I had to go back because very light hairs again appeared on the corners of my mouth. There were like 4 on each side (yes, I counted them) :) and there were 2 hairs under my chin. She upped the laser setting one last time, but she only did it on one side, so if that works I can stop there. If not I'll have to get electrolysis for those hairs.

No hair still on the cheeks or upper lip to report.

I didn't numb anything prior to my appointment this time either. It took 15 minutes and cost $25.00.

On another completely different note? Why does April seem farther away from August, that August does to December? ;) Add no shaving on from the last post to this one and that's how long I haven't shaved.

Take care!

I hope it works Gracie! I admire your will power. I don't think I could stand not shaving that long if I gone through what you have and still had a few hairs. Whoosh would go the razor to wipe them out.

Hi Donna,

I hope it works too. I don't really know if I have any strong will power though.

You couldn't see them unless you got right up to my face. I couldn't seen them in the mirror. I only felt them because my tongue would wander outside of my mouth. So it was easy not to shave. I've seen women with more hair on the corners of their mouths than I had. ;) So it wasn't a problem.

The hairs started to grow after the 2 1/2 month mark. The length never grew longer than a certain amount. Weird for facial hair. I would have thought it was going to keep growing, but it just stopped or it was growing so slowly it was negligable? If it had gotten long I probably would have done what you would have done.

Even the two hairs that were under my next (that were dark) only got so long before they stopped growing too.

I am soooo glad that this is going well for you! Wasn't it you that said if anyone ever discovers a way to do a permanent hair removal at home it will be a cross-dresser? I believe it!
Proud of you, girlfriend!

Hi Virginia,

Thanks. :)

I don't know if it was me who said that? I think it was someone else. :-k

Thanks again!
