Pierced Ears

Hi Miss B.

You may recall that when I got pierced I wasn't out yet, and I used a piece of clear fishing line to keep the holes open. I lost a few of these but in time the holes are just fine now. I did cut one too short, so I am a 'living tackle box' in my left ear. Here's how to do it:

Cut two pieces of clear nylon fishing line about 2 inches long. Heat one end with a lighter and press into a metal or ceramic surface. With experimentation you'll find just the right heat and time to leave a small knob on this end. Insert into hole and use scissors to CAREFULLY cut the back side, leaving it 1/4 inch long or more. These are almost undetectable, but as with any new piercing you need to spin(rotate) them every few hours. After work, remove them, use the antiseptic the piercer should have given you, and insert the studs they shot in till morning, when you clean, insert the clear line, and go to work. It took my piercings 8 weeks to 'seal' open, most folks go faster than this; 6 weeks seems average. And any new piercing needs to be used often in the first six months or it might 'seal shut on you between wearings.

Only a very sharp neice noticed the piercing holes in my lobes, and she didn't comment till after I saw her with my studs in. She never asked why I did it but a few others did, so I told the truth: I wanted to do it so I did! Never a problem after that!

Not bad for a mid-40's construction worker, huh? Around here, all ages and all manner of non-TG folks are getting both ears pierced and wearing publicly, so it's hardly an issue anymore.

I've had my ears peirced twice in each ear for about ten years now. I have tried this method for keeping the peircings from closing over. It worked great for me and may possibly work for others.

Step 1. Take a 2-3 inch piece of clear polyurethane (like the stuff that holds the parts to a model aeroplanes windows).

Step 2. Hold it over a candle, keeping the tip of the flame from touching the plastic, about middle and keep turning it like a spit roast until it starts to soften.

Step 3. Slowly stretch the plastic out until it is an even thickness in the middle.

Step 4. Cut off half 3/4 inch lengths and sharpen one end with a nail file, then ever so gently round that tip off.

Step 5. Hold the non filed end towards the candle flame and watch it take the shape of a rivet head.

Step 6. Let it cool off naturally or drop it in a small glass of water.

Then when you have a few sets made, slip one into the piercing and wear away all day with out the fear of anyone noticing. If you lose one slip in another that you have in you purse etc.

Hi all,

Sounds like a wonderful idea to get the ears peirced. With the latest info from some of the girls, I will think about getting both ears done at the same time. On an off work Friday would be the best bet, since a three day weekend would give plenty of time to get use to them and make some inserts. During work hours the left ear would brandish something I could wear and get away with around the office, say a small diamond. The right ear would have the insert made on the weekend off. But, after hours those would be replaced with the hoops that you bought and couldn't wait to wear them. I think I might have just talked myself into doing this. Why Yes I did. Huggs and kisses for all.

I had my left ear pierced when I was 18, much to the dismay of my parents.

By the mid 90s I have seen many pro atheletes (especially basketball players) sporting hoop earrings in both ears.

Finally back in '99, I had the right ear done.

I had my left ear pierced about six years ago. Just had the right one done last week. I've already been asked by one colleague about it being in the "wrong" ear. Ah, well. Some perceptions are sloowwwwww to change.

~D~ jabbed holes in mine a couple of years ago, with a block of ice and a needle... OUCH! Only problem was when she tried to push the stud through, she missed and couldn't understand why there were tears in my eyes. When I looked, there were two holes in my ear.....ARGGHH !!!

She had a laugh at that one

I now wear a couple of small sleepers during drab time

I asked my wife if I could get mine pierced. She said not until I install a ceiling fan in the living room. Problem there is that there are no wires running in the ceiling and it is not accessable from above.

I know how to do everything necessary, just hate putting holes in the wall I have to patch later.

But, I said OK, deal!

She then asked how we'd explain it to her relatives or mine. I replied that I'll be 50 this year, just say I'm going through a midlife crises. Of course, I'd have no problem simply saying, "Because I wanted to." Guys with earings is so commonplace nowadays, it should be no big deal anyway.

So I'm looking forward to being able to wear nicer earings. Where, I haven't figured out yet. Plus I can make my own unique ones by woodcarving or woodturning.

I got both ears pieced. If anyone mentioned it, I just said, hey, I'm a hippie at heart. That's the truth anyway.

So far? Not a blip of reaction.

So, I got two more! HA! Two in each ear.

PLUS a belly button ring. The nose is next!

When I date, the women see my pierced ears, and sometimes my belly button ring. It kind of separates the cool chicks from the duds.

Cool chicks say, "Wow, you're FUN!"

Duds say...."Hmmm...I don't know if I approve of that....'

Now whom would YOU rather date?

How often did someone notice? Did you ever notice anyone looking at your earlobes in a conversation?

Why did you decide to do it? Other than these questions.. I have nothing else to ask.

I've recently thought about a belly button ring, but I'm not sure. If I were single any gal who'd say, "Hmmm..." I would have said aloha.

So I'd have dated the "Wow, your fun" gal

Fortunately I'm married to that type of gal so I know I made the right choice.

I don't really know if anyone noticed.....no one said anything, and my business is thriving.

Plus, you know me...I don't give a damn what anyone else thinks.

I decided to do it to give a little something to Genevieve. She's been hidden away for so long, it was like a little present.

But here's the bottom line, Beauty. If a man gets his ears pieced, in 2005....MOST people who even think about it will think roughly like this:

1.) Whoa, dude...he is so cool!

2.) He's so fun!

3.) Must be having a midlife crisis

4.) Wow, outside of work he must be wilder than we thought

5.) Damn hippy. What's next? Tie dye?

6.) Man, that dude has balls! I'm too chicken to do that!

7.) Who do you think you are, Harrison Ford?

AND waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down the list, even further......maybe, just maybe but probably not....someone, somewhere, MAYBE....might think....

...is he gay?

But the chances of someone immediately thinking...Crossdresser?

Hey girls,
I had my ears pierced a year ago, and my boss freaked! ("My image of you is blown!"...blah, blah, blah.) He finally calmed down a few weeks later. He knew he was wrong and just needed some time to adjust. Other than that, there hasn't been any negative comments toward me. My kids and nieces and nephews all think I'm cool.

Oh, there is this one guy who asked why I had both ears done. My reply was dismissive and nonchalant. With the amount of piercings I see daily on people of all ages, I believe that one in each ear is, well, kinda mild.

I don't wear them to work, and I rarely get any kind of remark.

I got my two ears pierced ... lets see ... about 20 years ago, to wear the nicer earings, especially hoops, when dressed.

Over the last 6 months or so, two of my siblings have caught me with studs in, (they all thought it was cool) usually I don't wear anything when I'm going to be around work or family folks. I also think my third sibling knows, but hasn't said anything.
