Skirt Magazine

Post by Jaye »

Last month I discovered this publication at work. It's a monthly magazine, printed on higher-quality newsprint paper, published for women. Apparently the magazine originated in Charleston, SC, but has spread to other outlets in the Southeast. It's sort of like Creative Loafing with a feminist slant. There's neat pieces about food, fashion and the arts. You can find more about it here:

I was prompted to make this post because of the text on the cover of the new issue:

When the sun goes down, bloom like a Moonflower. Don't be afraid of your own Shadow... kick up those dangerously high heels and head into the dark. Summer nights are just right for baring your arms, baring your soul, barely there dresses. For short skirts and white t-shirts, mojitos and mojos, lightning bugs and thunderstorms. Take in a meteor shower. Go on the prowl with Orion. Be an evening Star. And when the witching hour arrives, kick off your heels, turn out the lights and follow your Dreams.

I could go for all of that, save the Mojitos. :Cough!:

It gave me a little lift, coming into my night job, and finding that bit of almost-poetry on the desk.
