Steffie's vacation Diary. Days 1-8.

Post by Steffie »

Hi girls,

Well Sunday I flew to Louisiana en-femme. One of my TG friends drove me to the airport after we had lunch and did some shopping in the mall.

Check-in was a very pleasant experience. I just handed my ID to the lady and smiled and said: "That really is me." She smiled and said I looked pretty. Going through screening was a breeze too. I had my laptop in one of the carry-ons and after it went through the lady said I needed to take it out. I said I was sorry and she smiled and said that's OK as a lot of people forget.

My flight was uneventful. There was a lady sitting next to me. Toward most of the journey she didn't say much but near end she finally started talking. She was going on to Kansas. We had a nice conversation. She actually said she had a son, 3 yrs old, who wanted to wear a female article of clothing (a skirt); so she made a makeshift one for him to wear. She said her ex-husband was not too crazy about that though but she was OK with it.

Flying in to La was nice. After going to baggage claim I saw the last minutes of the Super Bowl game. After I got my luggage one nice lady said to me: "Mam do you need help with your luggage?" I smiled and said no thank you.

I met my GG friends and went with them. They made crawfish etouffe which was delicious and hit the spot for me. I then put on my nightgown and went to bed.

So far the South seems to be pretty nice... :)

Steffie's vacation Diary. Days 1-8. Day 2.

Post by Steffie »

Hi girls,

Well today was a very warm day in Louisiana. The temperature got up into the 80's. Because it was such a nice sunny day I decided to wear a pink tube top with a jean skirt and a pair of cute black sandals.

I didn't do anything earth shattering (but then again I never do anyway). I just walked outside a little bit then rode in the car with one of my GG friends while she ran errands like going to the bank. She then showed me some of the streets of Baton Rouge. I then went with my other GG friend and we went to a dog park and walked her two dogs (a big one and a small one). After we dropped the dogs off back home we then went to some stores like Wal-Mart, TJ Max and Old Navy. My GG friend suggested a good picture to take: the one you see where in the background there are three crosses. I am symbolically welcoming all to the South.

I can say so far the South is pretty nice. I know the Cajun food certainly is great. Sure there are some people that may look but then again they do in NYC and NJ too. Well I can report so far that there has been no hate crimes or unusual behavior. There will always be those people that don't accept us TG girls but then again there are still a lot of people that just go about their business too; some might stare for a few seconds but stares are not the same as sticks and stones. Like anywhere else in the world you have to be aware of your surroundings, try to put on your best appearance and just proceed normally (no frills). At least it shows there has been some progress made in our country and hopefully will continue to get even better over time. The glass is half full though.

Honey, I am sooooooo proud of you!!!!! Flying and then telling us about it and that you were not hasseled at all. I hope a lot of our sisters take note and don't fear flying now! What it says to me is that if you simply smile, act like you are who you are, no one really cares! Oh, like you say, you will get "looks" but all girls get looks, good, bad or indifferent. They live with it and we can too!!!!

I love your new hair style, you look, sorry, but you look sooooooo much better. The wavy look suits you!

Hope you continue to have a great time!! And have a few mudbugs for me!!!

Love,

Virginia

Steffie's vacation Diary. Days 1-8. Day 3 New Orleans

Post by Steffie »

Hi girls,

Yesterday we went to two places: Lafayette during day and New Orleans during night. At Lafayette they had a carnival and parade there. It was nice. They have the custom in La of throwing beads for Marde Gras. It was windy though and my wig almost got blown off. lol

New Orleans was interesting. When we first got there we had to park around Canal street quite a few blocks from Bourbon street. I believe this was ghetto part of city. While I was walking I was getting jeered sometimes but this was the bad section of town too. I was a bit concerned though. Once we came to Bourbon street, things were finally good again. Here everyone was in a partying mood. It was crowded (kind of reminded me on the San Genuardo festival in NYC but this stretched on for miles it seemed). I met some interesting characters (although I'm sure passers-by thought that about me lol). One guy called me mam and asked me what time it was. I saw a few crossdresers there too and people throwing beads from the balconies. I caught some. A couple of ladies said I looked pretty. One strange one though wanted to "exchange stresses." That was her term. She wanted to take off her top and wanted me to take off my dress and we exchange clothes. I just smiled and said no thanks. I guess a lot ofm people liked the dress. lol We stopped in one place (Cajun sometimg..) for a few minutes. I had a good time walking on Bourbon street but my friends lost me for a few min one time. I looked back and then looked again and they were gone. I texted them with cell phone though and found them. On way back some weird guy with a beard grabbed my butt from the back. I just turned around and gave him a dirty look but did not say anything. I wonder if he thought I was a girl from the rear? lol The street on Canal street walking back was dirty. This time though no problem walking on Canal back to car. However when I'm in NO I would still avoid some parts of Canal.

I took lots of pics ad videos to try and give a little flavor I experienced. Hope you like them.

Steffie,
First let me say how sorry I am for your bad time, I will tell you this the wife and I went only one time into the Quarter on Mardi Gras day and believe me when I tell you things you would see nowhere else in the world.

Your friend being from BR just didn't know where to go to be safe or where to park. Gosh like I said before I wish I was still living there to show you a really good safe time and believe me I would have been dolled up to the 90es for all to see.

Oh well you will recover without a hang over I hope :P

Hi, Steffie -

I'm glad you're having a great time on your vacation! Yes, the French Quarter is now the 'ghetto' of Nawlens (said with a Cajun accent!), and you'll see a lot of things there you won't see anywhere else . . . well, except for San Francisco, that is! :P This Motor City Gal would rather visit downtown Detroit than the French Quarter, especially at night [-( - and I think the streets of Detroit were cleaner, too!! The filthy streets really disappointed me while visiting the FQ, and that was pre-Katrinna.

BTW, I think the new hairstyle is the best yet for you! =D>

Steffie's vacation Diary. Days 1-8. Day 6 Baton Rouge Hooter

Post by Steffie »

Hi girls,

Day 5 I was en-drab but today (Day 6), while en-drab again during day, Steffie came out during night. I decided to try a new challenge: a Hooters in the South. I have heard others tell me that restaurants could refuse to serve you and things like that in places not called New Orleans. Well I decided to test this and what better place than a Hooters? Sometimes if you hear something long enough you may actually start to believe it. Well I was a little nervous, I'll admit that. The place was crowded too and I had to wait for a table. But I am happy to report that I had a good outing. The girls there were nice. I smiled too and I am sure that helped. There were a lot of guys there but I couldn't see anyone stare. If they did, I missed it. I think they were too much into their surroundings. Why should they focus on a TG girl when there are GG's all around? I even used the ladies room to touch up my makeup. After I payed my check I asked a Hooter's girl if I could take a picture with her and a few others. They happily obliged.

I then went to a club that was supposed to be Lesbian. However this particular night the guy said it was electric/Gothic mainstream night. He said I was welcome there. Beings I was in unfamiliar surroundings though I declined and went to Wal-Mart super center and did window shopping. I even tried on a pair of slacks. As I was going into the women's dressing room I hear an "Excuse me?" I turn around fearing the worst and the lady says: "After you are done trying on, can you lock the door?" I breathed a sigh of relief. I tried on and then locked door. I then went home and put on my PJ's.

Anyway nothing earth shattering but still a good night to me. :)

Last night

Post by Steffie »

Hi girls,

I was running on fumes yesterday but I got all packed. Somehow I found the energy to go to a Baton Rouge club but only stayed one hour. In only took a couple of pics. I then went home, got some sleep and flew home but this time as male. Strangley enough when I checked in, the security person really scrutinized my ID even though I was in total male mode. Nothing happened though but it was actually "easier" flying as Steffie. lol Anyway that's a compilation of all my days in LA.

Steffie that sounds like a marvelous vacation. I've never been to New Orleans but someday I would love to go. I guess it belongs on my bucket list, to reference another thread.

I enjoyed your pictures. You look nice in them but I was struck by the thought that in some of them it's the crossdresser who is the dressed the most mainstream. Well it was Mardi Gras......

I'm glad you had fun and thanks for posting about your vacation. I know how much fun it is to post a little log of vacation time and it's fun to read also.
