I have been shopping around awhile and www.cdspub.com is a good book/publication/how to video site run by someone in the community.

Oh where Oh where was the web when I was a young girl and all alone?
For me I think it would have changed my life if I had the info and contacts that I now have because of the web. Makes me wonder how it is making a difference for the young girls of now days? :-k

Hi Nancy,

It's kind of interesting you say that. When I was 19 and I found Tri-Ess I imagined how bad it was for those who weren't able to have a group that had already established itself. :)

The internet trumps snail-mail by a light year.

I think these kinds of resources help them lots!! I know my first Tri-Ess black and white pamphlet helped me to not feel alone.

I love your insights Nancy and how well you express yourself. =D>
(btw, I keep typing Nance ;) )

What was really hard for me after all of the years I spent alone with my feelings and thoughts was when I first started to get a glimps that there were others out there but did not know how to go search them out or where to look for them. I lead such a sheltered life dont you know. I was always afraid if I did anything to find out more about the others like my self or why I was the way I was I would be some how found out.

My journy to where I am now could be seen at times as a big waste of time and missed oppertunities but now that I am here looking back I just dont care. Its the here and now and where I go, we go, from here that maters.

You know, prior to the net, CDs and even some TGs didn't have in-common calling cards to let other CD/TGs find each other . . . while on the other hand, gay people did -- clubs, periodicals and organizations catered directly to them -- as a result, they are more organized than we are . . .

Since, as a whole, we've "just come out of the closet" it could only take a short while for us to turn into a political force.

Am I just dreaming here or are we looking at the possibility of Alexandra for Prez in 2012?

Hi, all

I would like to thank Anne for starting this thread on the book/video site. I need all the help I can get :) .

I think the internet was the most valuable resource when the crossdressing urge reawakened a year and a half ago. I knew I wasn't alone, which was a big thing. I went from the usenet newsgroups to CDDF, then here. What a great group!

The main benefit I initially received from the Internet took a while because of all the trash I had to wade through to get here.

What the Internet has done was to help me identify Crossdressing as a seperate way of life from TV, TS and that dark hole known as Porn.

Now that I can see the difference between the various make-ups of males, and now that I can see how Crossdressing is NOT a seedy, drepressing activity to be ashamed of, my life has been elevated to such a wonderful state!

The books and videos just add to the excitement and education.
Allena... finally free!

One of the newer members wanted help on doing her makeup. As mentioned in the beginning of this thread, CDS publications has a number of excellent books. I can't recommend Art & Illusion: A Guide To Crossdressing Vol. 1 highly enough, Vol. 2 isn't quite as helpful (at least to me, YMMV) and I haven't seen Vol. 3 but I may buy it to take a look. The three volume set at $36 seems to be a good deal.
