Hi Everyone... Wow what an experience...Definately one I don't think I'd like to go through again...
We finally got our power on and have held up pretty well... When Ike hit in the middle of the night I was holding onto the bed for dear life. Those 90 MPH winds scared me to death. I don't think I got a minutes sleep...
Thank goodness we all surived with minimal damage. Some of our roof tiles got messed up, our fences are down, tree branches everywhere, bushes uprooted, a foot of water in our back yard, no power for 6 days, and on top of that no work due to flooding, roof damage and lack of power... Phew!!!
One of the best investments I ever made was a generator I bought earlier this year. It kept our fridge running...
Oh yeah a few more things... I'm dealing with all the blisters on my hands and the loss of my latest manicure from all the cleaning up we had to do so far... Hopefully in another week or two we will have everything cleaned up and back to normal.

Hi, Sharon -
We're so happy to know that you weathered Ike with minimal damage . . . it could have been a lot worse than some roof damage, a flooded backyard and landscape damages, all of which can be repaired or replaced.
Now for the important stuff: we hope your blisters heal quickly so you can get a new manicure!

Well, we are STILL without power at my home. Rumor has it that we are supposed to get it back on sometime today, but I'll believe it when I see it. I haven't had a good nights sleep since the Thursday night before the storm hit us. Been living out of coolers and cooking over grills since then. I'm about to go nuts soon..

Sharon, glad to hear you "escaped" with minimal damage. I still hear reports that Houston still has major power outages and massive cleanup to start. Hope you, Kandis and everyone there get your lives back in short order. I'm thinking of you.
P.S. Don't you just hate it when your hands and nails get messed up?

Glad you did "ok" with Ike. I know what the lack of power is like...after Wilma hit us, I was without for a week and it was miserable. My neighbors across the street were without power fo 3 weeks, but I made sure to leave my lights on to let them know I was ok. So, yeah, the aftermath can be worse than the storm itself. Good luck with your recovery....it takes time.

well, I'm coming up on the end of week 2 on Friday and I don't like it one little bit. Those idiots stated on their website that we would have it back on this past Monday (9/22), and now they FINALLY changed it today to say that we might have it back by Sunday (9/28 ). I am so livid right now it is not even funny.
