Virgina, no whinning allowed. lol Welcome to country living. I wist I was back out in the country instead of stuck here in town.

I can't say I enjoyed the weather all the time out there, but IMHO the plusses outweighted the minuses.

Well, all the work that we have done on this place is evidently paying off. We are far from finished as today, I ripped out the guest bath to redo it, but the house is staying warm.

As for cuddling, if SL and I were cuddling any closer, she'd be on the other side of me! :P

Saw very few birds today. It was 8 degrees this morning with a hard, steady wind blowing all day and it never got above 18 with a beautiful clear blue sky all day. They are calling for basically the same weather all week with possibly some snow Friday or Saturday. What is this Nome?

I have had just about enough of Al's global warming! By the way, where is that jackass?

Sorry 'bout that anyway, stay warm ladies. Got to start knitting some sweaters for my little feathered friends. Did not see the falcon around today either.

It's been pleasant here, hovering in the 20's with occaisional light snow. I drove my daughter to school early this morning, about 6:45, and the snow falling at dawn was breathtakingly beautiful.

BBUUURRR! this morning at 6:58am the outside temp was 10 with a breeze! The Weather emergency radio just reported that the first seven days in January were the coldest since they began keeping records and that goes back to the late 1800's.

Now the snow that is left from our 18" is still frozen, there is a beautiful blue sky and we just had a gust of wind that blew in and virtually caused a brief "white-out!" The wind was strong enough to loosen frozen snow and blow enough of it to white out our driveway :-k Amazing!

I feel sorry for our little feathered friends, they have to eat but they have to deal with 10 degree temps, and high winds. I just want to invite all of them in to warm up, but they seem to be doing ok. A cardinal tried to fly from the feeder but was blown up the mountain, not exactly where he wanted to go, I am sure.

Stay warm, ladies! We are going to try and make it to the "Home Show" today, and then pick up more bird food!

Love,

Virginia

From the news today it looks like youse is gonna get a "little" bit more snow. I think it's time to get a sled and some dogs. This global warming is really getting out of control. :)

Ok, not to get too political about this, This actually fits into Gore's global warming model, which predicts extreme and unusual weather events, both hot and cold.

The weather here in New England is clear and in the 20's. Not much snow on the ground. Downright balmy for hereabouts!

April you are right about the climate change.

Still nice here in New England but I guessDonna, Virginia, and SL are getting what the news is now calling snowmageddon. Enjoy it!!!!
But if the snow gets over 2 feet high don't go out in only your nightie even if it is a white one that color coordinates with the weather...

Sure feel sorry for all the folks northeast of us! Seems there was run on snow shovels up there.

SL and I took our blanket and 22SPF and laid out in the sun on the front lawn today. I'd say it was at least 88 maybe it hit 90. I was thinking of cutting the grass but it was just too hot! - YEAH? dream on you blond floozy -?! who said that??? what sun tan - yes you can take away one of the "8's" and the "0" off the 90 and you will be close to this disaster. Don't know exactly how much "global warming" we had as about 6" - 8" had not even melted from the last "heat wave." Now we see we may/will/can get even more Tuesday and Wednesday.

Well the poor dove are just sitting in the trees behind the house and we counted 28 of the poor things and it dawned on me what they are just sitting there with all the food that we have put out. The poor things can't find any gravel to put in their craws to grind up the seeds. Well we cleared the driveway this afternoon so hopefully that will help them.

VDOT plowed our road (which is dirt/gravel) that runs in front of our house three times today. They use what I can only describe as a medium sized TRACKED vehicle. I'd say it would take 4 - 5 feet to hinder that things operation.

Stay fluffy, ladies

::HMPH:: Global Warming my hynnie . . . that's already been proven to be fraudulent and a big hoax, as is AG and others of his ilk, so don't get me started on those idiots! ::mutter, grumble, mutter:: [-(

We had at least 13" of snow from this storm, piled on top of the 6-8" of snow which remained from last weekend. Yeah, I had to again 'strong-arm' Virginia into helping me shovel 'tracks' in the driveway (one of us still has to go to work  ) and, just like last weekend, we ended up shoveling the entire driveway, ~ 200' up a steep incline. As if that wasn't enough pain and aggravation, I decided to also shovel our parking area, roughly 30' x 40', which I did by myself. Bartender, Drambuie on the Rocks, please, and hold the Rocks! :P

We're trying to develop snow shovels for all our birds and squirrels so they can help by 'earning their keep'. Talk about spoiling them, since we can't easily get to all 5 feeders we've been putting seed out on our covered front porch. Didn't take them long to find it, and it's wonderful to watch them from the comfort of our sofa. Some of them are bold enough and have come right up to our double floor-to-ceiling picture windows, looking in at us while we're looking out at them!

I am so not looking forward to the week's anticipated snow forecast. [-( At this rate, we'll probably still have snow going into May. Good news, though, is we have yet to lose any power, although we were without satellite connections for a short period this afternoon.

Keeping warm on Snow Mountain . . .

You were spared the wrath of Tai-Shan (Pandamonium) with 24" plus here in NoVa. We won't see VDOT for awhile, they are too busy on the main roads. When the snow gets past garter level when tromping out, it is too high.

When I was a kid (and that is a lot of years ago) A climatetoligest said that the preceding 100 years had the least volitale in the history of the planet.

The area I was reaised in had 2 periods where glacires came into the area. At the time my Dad was a kid the area north of town still looked like the "Great American Desert" as Mark Twain had called it. It was sandhills with very little vegigation. By the time I was growing up it was good pasture and fertile crop ground.

In the history of the world there is evidence of cooling and heating cycles with the possibility that some of the changes may have occured with drastic speed.

So Virginia and SL and you girls who are getting it, ENJOY THE SNOW. It makes looking forwad to summer more enjoyable.

Va and Sl, I guess you lucked out. My sibs both got over 2 feet with attendant falling trees, power outages and the like. They are closer to the coast and a bit north of you however. Up here in New England we got nary a flake. But we're supposed to make up for that on Tuesday.

As for the global warming we'll have to agree to disagree again about what the facts are. IMHO the most alarming thing about it is that humanities traditional way of dealing with any kind of difficult change is increased military conflict, which we already have enough of.

Zari's right: the real term is "Climate Change". So will be warm, some will freeze, some will have dought, and others will drowned. Hang on for the ride and Heaven help our grandchildren.
