Lesson 10:

01. Spend 80% of your time on the solution. Only 20% of your time on the problem.

With the problem defined, stop trying to define it over and over. You know what the problem is. Start working on the solution. The problem is defined and clearly known, going in circles is not going to change the problem.

02. Manage your state of mind.

When you find yourself dwelling on the problem, stand up, look at the ceiling and grin! Yes, put a big grin on your face! No one is watching you so do it! See …. It is hard to get depressed doing that. You may feel stupid but it breaks the pattern of depression and relentlessly thinking about your problem. You simply cannot feel depressed when looking at the ceiling and grinning! Try it! No, this cannot cure medical depression, sorry, but it has been used in therapy with some success.

03. Keep a sharp focus 80/20!

If you slip up, that’s okay. Get back on track with your 80% solution, 20% problem method. It works for those that make it work when they are ready! Pain is to great not to do something about the problem!

04. You try something that does not work.

Try something else. If it fails, try something else. There is no “I give up” option. Try and try again.

The famous 5 questions to Problem solving:

01. What could be great about this?

02. What’s not perfect yet?

03. What am I willing to do to make it the way I want it?

04. What am I willing to no longer do, in order to have things the way I want them?

05. How can I do what’s necessary to get the job done and enjoy the process?

Decide on what you want. Get a plan to get there. Take actions the lead directly toward your goals. Be flexible. Change your approach if you see it is not working.
