Just think of what you can tell your grandkids! "I survived the Winter of 2009-10 when the snow was @$$ deep on a ten foot man!"

I can't tell you the number of time I heard my mother talking about sleigh riding over the tops of fences in the "old days" and how they always had deep snow.

It may be a pain in the back now, but it will give you bragging rights for years to come.

I read today that DC has had about 4 1/2 feet of snow in the last week. The sort of week that might make folks out west pay attention for a moment. I remember my mom and grandmother talking about stuff like this happening to them every couple of years.

here in New England we got a paltry 7 inches.

Try to enjoy it, since there isn't much else to be done.

We had 8ft plus last year and almost that year before.

12.2" total so far this year. All the snow is falling as Rain.

8f on the ground for 2-3 months is royal pain. But traffic was very light 1st couple of days. Having to clear the roof of snow is not fun.

Anyone need Roof Rake? Lots of fun having it slide off on the ground into your face (large blocks it cuts them off and they slide down plastic tarp).

But better than broken roof.

4x4 thru the Snow is Fun still. Never got stuck in my Mazda B3000 (Ford Ranger, Sold by Mazda, Build by Ford, in Mexico, it can't go past Taco Bell without downshifting).

Nice to see the snow on TV this year.

WInter still holds us in thrall - Scotland and Northern Ireland got up to 50cm/18" of snow dumped on them this week and I drove back this morning in sleet. This has been our coldest winter since 1980.

This was our snowiest on record. But supposed to be around 80F/26C today.

If you sweep or shovel snow, you have not seen snow. A big horsepower snow blower and a 3 foot/1 meter dump and you dress up warm for it. No open or exposed skin, unless you are a fool. The greatest snow fall that I have seen in an 18 hour period was 158cm, that is about 5 foot 2 inches. After you finish the sidewalks and driveway, you can then start on the house and garage roofs. This is not a joke, this was real life in real time.

May I suggest you consider that this is not purely a USA site. I am pleased we get girls from all continents here (apart from Antarctica - not seen one from there - yet!)

I'm sure there are girls like us everywhere. I wouldn't fancy being an Eskimo though, the dress styles are a bit limited.

Hi all,
I used to live in Maine (up near the Canadian border) and would commonly see snow on the ground in May. I loved it then, and I love it now. Here in the Rockies, we've had a warm spell and melted most of what we have. I've learned to not count my chickens before they hatch, though! We had a light snow last weekend, and they say we may see more soon. (Kyra predicts more rain/hail than snow)

I'm kinda ready for Spring. We bought new planters yesterday and a few flowers (Hydrangias and Pansies, mostly) for the window boxes.
