Successfull outing, despite adversity

Post by Debra Russell »

Well it's the time of year for all types of outdoor activity and I so wanted to go the local festival dressed! All was going well untill my son showed up for the weekend (his birthday) and my live in grandgaughter took the day off - it dident look like my outing was going to happen, but as I thought about it a plan formed. My wife got up early to go to work and she new I wanted to go out dressed for the day so I got up early as she dressed for work we had a little discussion as to who was goning to wear my new capries as we are the same size, she dident mind so I got them: however I dressed in drab and packed my gym bag and put in the car. After my wife left I ate a bite, my granddaughter was up and I and was going to ask her if she wanted to spend the day with Debbie (she has a pretty good idea and is open minded but has never been with Debbie other than Halloween) she had a tooth ache so I said no more, my son still in bed. I told her I was going to the festival and would be back later.

My business is directly on the parade route and they block the streets off so I parked a couple of blockes away grabbed my bag and walked to the shop. The parade wouldent start for 2hr but folks were already vying for position along the curb. I went in a back room and put my makeup on changed clothes, about an hour passed - I took a few pics to see how I looked, I think I passed inspection, nobody looking a me anyway.

I went out the back door out onto the street and stood with, or should I say "close" to people I know. The Parade started we all watched, I took pics and walked along the route toward the park where the breakfast was being held, greeting people as I went. I got to the park purchased a ticket for breakfast and ate it while I watched the parade. When it was over I wandered around the park looking at the booths and venders; as I walked I noticed a customer I have known for 30 yrs. He looked directly at me, I smiled as he did and walked on. At first I thought I had been "read" but knowing him that look was only one look of many he gives to ladies all day long!

I decided it was still early and did not want Debbie's day to end yet, so off to the casino, played slots and had a good time. On the way home I hit a local upper end clothing consignment store and perused the isles, they had a nice selection of shoes. I saw a pair of green ones like I think my wife is looking for

I got back to the shop and the crowd had dwindeled down I parked in front went in and changed back to guy mode. As I started home (about a mile) my wife called and was just getting off work and she said she got the pic I sent to her - we arrived home at the same time - Children watching TV. Wife and I sat on the patio as I showed her pics and relayed the days events. A very good day :kisscheek:

How about it everybody! Would like to hear about your good or not so good times Huggs Debbie

P.S. Hope I dident ramble on too much - Just couldent help it!

Glad you had a good time. =D>

Yesterday, after donning a pair of shorts and my ladies tank top, I pulled out the 30 foot ladder and patched a hole above one of the soffits where a squirrel decided to play house. 99 degrees. Water (read sweat) filling my shoes.

Awesome outing Debbie! I hear Portland is such a great place.

You really got in among the crowd and you blended and had a good time. That is a comfort level many only dream about.

Oh and congrats on the breakthroughs with your relationship, very special.

Debra, that's certainly bold on your part. It does sound like it was a really nice day out, and it's great fun to be at a festival in your hometown. I haven't had a lot of time out and about lately, but two weeks ago I really enjoyed a restaurant outing after our support group meeting.

I just felt good about my appearance that night; I'd spent some extra time on the makeup, and I had on one of my favorite outfits. It was candlelight and classical music, and good friends around the table with me.

My also knows and is OK with it. Today we got up and I got dressed first. Wife had an outing with a girlfriend, so after JoAnn got her pedicure/manicue and fill at the Nail salon, she went to the Pet Store and bought Cat food and cat liter. Then she went to Wal-Mat, bought a new bra, and grocery shopping. Wife showed up about 1PM. I am still dressed as I type this message. She always ask about my day when I go out solo en fem.

Sounds like you had a great day, I'm so envious, and pleased for you. I have a new casual outfit I'm longing to try but can't until my wife is out of town.

Well done,

Love CL
