The last time I came back to the states from Bulgaria, as I was going through Bulgarian passport control at the airport, I noticed the guy checking my passport seemed to be sort of amused. There was another guy and girl there with him and they were talking about something. Then the girl asked about my earrings, and we talked for a few seconds about that. There was no trouble and I went on, but I was thinking that they were probably talking about me, and since I've been through there many times one or more of them had probably seen me before, although I didn't really remember any of them.
Of course, everyone at the airport in Allentown, PA knows me because I go through there dozens of times a year. And this time one of the TSA ladies asked me about my kids, how they were doing, etc. Last summer my kids went with me back to Wisconsin, and she remembered them, which sort of surprised me.
But returning to Bulgaria yesterday, I was changing planes in CDG (Paris) and going to catch one of the intra-airport busses and one of the security ladies recognozed me. I think it was the earrings (I usually wear Silver Forest and they are quite unique) which she noticed first. Then she said something like "Hey, I've seen you here before!" Since there were some people behind me I only said "yes, I've been here a few times before." But as I was waiting for the bus to get there she came over to me and we talked for a little bit.
So CDG isn't one of my usual airports, I've only been through there maybe 5-6 times, so I was rather surprised to find someone there who recognized me. I know there probably are not too many crossdressers travelling, and I'm sure most of them "pass" and so are less noticible, but it still seems like a slim chance to cross paths with someone who has seen me before. I hope that's a good sign, and not "hey, there is that fashion disaster again."
