I thought I wouls ask some people with some help or in put about cameras or digital camera in particulare. I want to get a digital camera before I go on vacation next week and have been looking at several different styles. Some are very confusing. Right now I am looking at the Cannon Powershot S400 Elph. It has a lot of nice features I like. Including using compact falsh as the memmory style.
Please I need input ASAP because my vaction is comming soon and I would like to know how to use the camera before I leave so I do not spend my vacation on how to use it.

Thanks Cheryl Ann
The price is right. The place I am looking at buying it from is saleing it a refurbished camera with a gurtine that it was fully checked over my manufacture. They also are selling a good warranty on it for 3 years $44. I am really thinking getting it as it is a refurbished camera that they are ofering for only $250. If I spend at least $399 (which I can by adding things to the purchase) I have no payments and no interst tell jan '05. And by then I can easy have the money set aside to pay it off. I am just nowing trying to see if it will all go together with the hand held I plan to but later this year.

My Consumer Reports arrived today and there was a special section on digital cameras.
There were 13 cameras evaluated in the 4-megapixel catagory, the Canon s400 came in 5th. Of the 4-megapiel cameras, they recommended the Kodak DX6490 and the Olympus C-750 Ultra Zoom. The more serious shortcoming for the Canon is the lack of manual controls. This might not be important to some people, but for people attempting to get an unusal or "more professional" look, this limitation would be a bummer.
Good luck!

Well I was not looking for that. I went out and got my camera today. The biggest part was having a memory that can exchanged with the PDA I plan to buy later this year. The camera I got is the Cannon Power Shot SD100 3.2 mega pixels. I got $178 then with buying all the other added items I got it up to the $400 I needed to get no payments and interset tell jan 05.
