New Gal - Hello From Jane D

Post by Jane D »

Greetings from mid-Ohio, I am looking forward to getting to know every one here, and I will try my best to bring something to the party. //party

I once had an account here with a extra low post count but it went inactive, which reflected the on-again, off-again nature of my persona...hopefully I am past that stage now.

At 62 I voluntarily left the work force this past summer (does anyone truly 'retire'?) and am just starting to unwind from 35 years of corporate work. It is quite an adjustment.

My family consists of my wife, 2 adult sons, one of whom still lives with use while attending college, and a few pets.

I will share my story in a Beginnings post but suffice to say it is very similar to the many I've read. To this point, I've never fully engaged in cross dressing. My orientation is 100% hetro and I only have eyes for my spouse. My gender is a mix like many of you, and hopefully with some exploration and encouragement I can find some peace and acceptance. Don't want to bore you so I'll save the philosophical stuff for later posts!!

Regards - Jane

Just about 20 miles or so north of Columbus. I read you were a former Michigander, with a mention of Warren(?) area. I grew up in Royal Oak and lived in the Troy area for many years. Moved to Columbus following work. I have to say, It was a BIG change environment wise but I don't miss the traffic or commutes of metro Detroit. After a decade+ here it feels like home.

Hey, Jane -

I'm a 5th generation Michiganian (correct term, most don't know that) . . . I'll never be a 'Michigander' - what type of goose is that, anyway?!? :P

Ah, yes, Royal Oak and Troy - I used to work in the area (Southfield, Troy) and before moving to the Sunshine State (and subsequently to the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia with my Virginia) I lived in White Lake Township (immediately west of Waterford Twp.). Needless to say I am so glad to not live in the Metro Detroit area any more, even though the majority of my family is still there. Adjustment of 'small town life' was no hardship at all, and I definitely do not miss the traffic. In fact, I laugh when friends complain of our 'rush hour traffic' . . . which will back up for all of 10 minutes . . . they have no idea what real rush-hour traffic is all about, but commutes here can be long due to the mountains.

I have friends in Galion and Mt. Gilead, bluegrass band called "Kickin' Grass" (fka "Full House").

You do remember the directions from Ann Arbor to Columbus, right? South until you smell it, east until you step in it. #-o

Yes, I am definitely a WOLVERINE . . .

*-* Go Maize-and-Blue!!! *-*

Hi Jane--
Welcome to the forum! I lived in Columbus for a year and a half, but seldom went north of there. If I did, I just pointed the car at I-71 to Cleveland. There is some OSU Buckeye-bashing that goes on in this forum  , but other than that, it's a fine place.

First, Jane is a fellow Michiganian and if by birth that makes her a Wolverine, too . . . that is also the State animal for Michigan, dontcha know! =D>

Second, my Virginia was born at Wright-Patterson AFB so that makes her a Buckeye (TN & VA raised), my Mom was also Buckeye-born (MI raised), and I have many friends who live in Ohio and are Buckeye-born.

And yet . . . Michigan RULES Ohio any day!! !!tongue!!

For the record, when UM plays MSU, I am all Wolverine; but I'll always cheer on any team playing against OSU!! *-*

Besides, the rivalry between Michigan and Ohio (states and all their teams) is mostly good-natured . . . I can take a joke/ribbing as well as dish them out!

Hi Jane. Your profile is almost identical to mine. I left work a little sooner, have a couple more kids, and have only stepped over the great gender divide and gone out fully dressed once.

I think we'll understand each other. Hope to catch you in the chat room sometime.

Kelly.

Laies, thank you for your warm reception. SilverLady is right, we cheer for the Wolverines. My children are sports-agnostic but attended OSU so are probably more Buckeye than anything. The folks here are fanatics, even at work they wore buckeye necklaces and bracelets. I got my masters from MSU so reveled in telling my coworkers the Spartans aka giant killers were coming to town (yeah, right!).

I think I can drive the US23 corridor from Colombus to Flint blindfolded...we frequent upper Michigan for its nature and beauty.

I do look forward to learning more about all of you as I share my story with you. Oh, meant to mention that I'm big into science, technology, as well as nature and have read and learned much after my formal studies. For now, ..o)..
