Re: Maxi Dresses
True, Cyndi.
Growing up in the age of Aquarius and mini skirts, we know that terms change with time. A maxi dress used to be called floor length, while some are not quite that long. Then the mini and midi skirt. How much above the knee was allowed in school. And how much below, you were wearing some family's hand-me-downs.
As a more simple minded person, can't we call them ankle or floor length? Any woman with weight issues would not want to buy anything labeled as 'maxi' anyway.
What ever the style, they are comfortable, not always flattering in my case.

...but when you add breast forms and a padded girdle to an average 5'8" male build they work nicely. LOL.
Normal, just not average,

I love maxi skirts, especially in the fall and winter with boots. They feel so good rubbing against my nylons.

I tuly love the maxi look, both skirts and dresses. They are great here in SoCal especially when it gets warm as noone needs to wear hose with them, just slide into some wedges and away you go! I do have to admit having breasts of my own and having to struggle with a strapless bra with some of them can be a pain but who ever said looking like a hot cougar was easy

Re: Maxi Dresses
The Age of Aquarius! Does that ever bring back memories Eileen.I remember the minis, midis and even the maxi skirts and dresses of the era very fondly. If memory serves me well they also used to call the maxis ``granny dresses``. Although she never wore them, back then it was just the younger generation that wore them, my mother thought were great. That way her daughters weren`t running around with their legs hanging out with the mini skirts and hot pants of the era.
I love the maxi look of today and have several each of maxidresses and skirts. What I enjoy so much about them is you can dress them up or go casual wth them. They are really great in the hot muggy weather, no need for hose yet you can still look poliished and ladylike. Besides it allows us old ladies to look fashionable and youthful.

Re: Maxi Dresses
Maxi dresses are great, but maxi skirts are even better. That way you can mix and match with a variety of tops - layering looks cute as well.
I suggest Zulily.com for not only maxi dresses and skirts, but just about everything. My wife and I shop from them quite a bit - its fun!

I wear maxi dresses more than any other dress! They are very convenient to just slip them on, and you are in fem! To me they are my most comfortable dresses I bought a beautiful maxi dress on lighting deals at amazon for $12.00 Just couldn't pass it up for that price. I shop at forever 21 they have good prices and a good selection of maxis

Maxis are great! You can dress them or down and still blend in. I have several and àm always on the lookout for more. To me the biggest issue is way too many of the spring and summer styles show too much boobie. When you don't have them to flaunt that can be an issue. I hope they stay in style a long time.

Re: Maxi Dresses
No doubt, maxis are great and wonderfully great summer attire. I agree that by just slipping into a maxi dress or skirt...voila...your fem side immediately shows. It is interesting to watch women in a shopping area I pass through periodically. During the summer, about one third of those who are wearing a skirt/dress, are wearing maxis (albeit that the predominant attire continues to be capris, shorts or jeans). I find it interesting to see what types of tops are being worn with the maxi skirts.

Re: Maxi Dresses
Don't know why but I love them all. My current wardrobe is small but I have a short skirt, above the knee, a longer one below the knee and a maxi dress. For me variety is the spice. I also have capris, tights and jeans.. and some tops to mix match.
Working on shoes.. a pair of flats to start and now, SO bought me a pair.. not sure what to call them but they have a 3 inch heel, solid cork sole and open toed. A little tight as fitting man feet into women's shoes is a challenge.... I'm hoping they stretch over time as I really like them. And I'm getting my balance as I never walked with a heel before.

Don't worry about what other people think, because they don't.

Re: Maxi Dresses
When they first appeared I thought they were silly, then I bought a maxi skirt. Boy was I ever wrong!
It was so comfortable and offered so many looks I wore it all the time. Now I have 3 maxi skirts and 2 maxi dresses and they are what I wear most. They are cool in the heat and humidity and when it gets cooler I pair them up with a sweater. Can't wait until fall when I can pair them up with some tights and boots.
