My different seasons...
If you have read a bit about my story, you will know that my CDing is VERY limited. My wife knows about it, has gone from somehow tolerant to DADT, to talks about the big "D" to another DADT stage. What this has meant to my dressing chances is that while my changes to dress are very few and far between, usually when I get a chance to dress, I can have at least one week to myself.
So, by looking at my photographs over all the years, I can tell that for each one of those "seasons", I would favor an specific look/style.
Without any specific chronological order, I went through stages where my favorite look was:
* Bridesmaid/Formal.
* Business like (Power-suit, skirt and blouse, pantsuit, etc).
* Clubbing styles.
* Soccer mom.
* jeans/pants/trousers.
* nothing in particular.
Sure, before these seasons I would wear everything and anything I was able to get... and none of the seasons was only limited to those styles. But I found it a bit funny how those changes or progression or preferences worked out for me. Has any of you noticed a similar pattern on your dressing?
*hugs*

Nope
Mine depends on what I am intending to do while dressed. Go out, chores or just lay about.

Hi Donna. Maybe I failed to express that I didn't dress exclusively in those styles during those days. You can bet that I didn't go out shopping wearing a frock! Nor did I go to any club dressed as a soccer-mom.
So, it was more like I had months ahead to shop and accumulate outfits, and those styles were the more prevalent ones those times.

Re: My different seasons...
Looking back my dressing has never had any seasons or themes, but it has evolved over time. Ten years ago I was going more for the nicer, girly, office, church clothes. Now I am more of a dressy casual twist to my wardrobe.

Re: My different seasons...
Great topic, Gaby!
I've definitely noticed a pattern in my styles over the years. I refer them to as my "phases". These phases were not necessarily restricted to any one sort of style, but there was a noticeable commonality in the type of clothes I was buying during said phases.
I've dabbled in crossdressing here and there since an early age, with long gaps in between, but for all intents and purposes, if I were to assign a date to when it really began to blossom, that would have been 2006. So here's the rundown...
2006-2008: pretty much just a female version of my male self, short denim/camo skirts and black tops, jeans - the basics... oh and the "schoolgirl" look too
2009-2012: anything "girly" that looked cute and was cheap - a lot of stuff from Old Navy, no real rhyme or reason to my purchases... if it looked cute and was inexpensive, I bought it
2013-2015: my "what the heck was I thinking!?!?!" phase - complete 360... a lot of beiges, floral patterns, gold colours, blond wig - I was dressing like my mom, LOL!
2015-2016: current style - much more refined, I try to be very careful in my clothes selections for styles that "work" for me, mostly darker, solid colours going for the "career" look or at times, more casual, especially now that I am out and about and trying to blend in
I think this latest phase is the best yet! I find inspiration from the women I see around me. If its a look that I think might work, I attempt to emulate while staying true to my own sense of style and personality. I try to let that shine through. I suppose I can best describe my overall look as "office" by day, "soccer mom" at night. Fun, fresh and flirty is how I try to project my fem self these days, and for the most part, I feel that I pull it off somewhat successfully!
BTW, Gaby... may I ask what DADT is? I am completely unfamiliar whit the term.

Re: My different seasons...
Glad that my post made some sense Lexi.
Hey, DADT is basically the "Don't ask, don't tell".
Funny you mentioned that you were dressing like your mom! It so happens that my mom has never in her life been a fancy dressing woman. Really no need for that, as my parents were never very social people. She had a "phase" several years ago where she actually was wearing many dresses, skirts, pretty tops... The explanation for that sudden change? Well, I traveled home after completing one of my "seasons" and I was pretty much trimming my wardrobe to the minimum. Soooo, I took with me two big boxes of my clothes which I thought would fit her and gave them to her. So while in that phase you were dressing like your mom, there was a time when my mom was dressing like me!!
I was very close to letting her know back then about me. I have to think that she was wondering why/how I was able to have so many nice things for her. She did comment that I had "very good taste".

Too bad for all the wives that won't accept a part of their partners life.
I think that a CD evolves their 'look' just as most girls and young ladies do. Without the advantage of dressing every day or peer review, this evolving takes much longer than with the average woman.
While still in hiding, my husband's style was limited to what could be safely hidden and rather slutty. After being discovered, she still dressed way too young and flashy.
With this wife's help, she now dresses much like women do when meeting friends for dinner. Not too fancy, nor too casual. She prefers skirts and heels, sometimes Capri's, tennis shoes, and a nice shirt.

Re: My different seasons...
Certainly the case Eileen. We usually don't have anybody to guide us/teach us about clothes/makeup. We have to learn by trial and error. Usually a lot of errors involved!
Most will go through that "slutty" looking phase. Just like many teenage girls may. But I believe that is for slightly different reasons. Usually girls are trying to be attractive to a kid they have a crush on. Many of us want to be attractive accordingly to the image of what we find sexy in a woman.

Agreed, Eileen.Eileen (SO) wrote:Too bad for all the wives that won't accept a part of their partners life.
You know, even if they didn't like it, I'm sure many would at least get a kick out of some of the poor choices we've made!
