Wish I could say this surprises me but it doesn't. If anything I find interesting that the lesbian community does not have the issue.
I am not surprised

Remember Ginger Rogers did everything Fred Astaire did only she did it backwards and in high heels!

Re: I am not surprised
From what i have heard this does not surprise me.
Fortunately here in Canada, we just recently had a bill passed in the house to provide protection in the Canadia Bill of Rights to give protection to all Canadians in the GLBT community.
Most provinces had protection in one way or another for LGBT people but now we are covered no matter where we live or are in Canada
Hopefuuly one day th USA will have similaar protection

Re: I am not surprised
I congratulate the Canadian people and government for stepping up and accepting that the LGBT community needs to have their rights protected as any other ethnic, religious, and gender group does. Sadly the USA lags here but perhaps one day our people and elected officials will wake up and see the light.
While laws and constitutional amendments protecting the rights of everyone to live their lives as they want or in the case of the TG community need to are great they do not address the core problem. Regardless of what the laws tell people there will still be discrimination though more covert due to stereotyping, ignorance, and bigotry. Until we can figure out how to address these issues there will never be true equality.

Housing developments, as a business, should not discriminate. I maintain that private owners of rental properties can choose who they rent to. 1st Amendment rights of Religion. Does the article break down discrimination in major rental units, smaller units, single home rentals? Corporate or private ownership? I think not.
Asking government to fix what ails one community often takes rights away from another.

But is freedom of religion really the issue here - or is it going to be used as a cover?...1st Amendment rights of Religion...
https://www.theatlantic.com/politics/ar ... on/390435/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; The one thing we can’t have is a rule—unwritten or explicit—that says discrimination is justified if the person discriminating really, really objects to the excluded group. Whether explained in religious terms or not, that undermines the entire idea of civil rights.

Not a cover, Anthony. How many bakeries, photographers, banquet halls, have been sued into bankruptcy because they wouldn't service a gay marriage?
Remember, I'm speaking of private owner landlords. Why can't the owner of a four flat, a homeowner leasing the home next door, or a homeowner renting out unused rooms decide who will live there without government intervention? Is there no such thing as property rights?
I know enough about statistics in that numbers can be skewed to get the result intended before the survey.
Sure, let's be more like Canada, they're so progressive. Free speech is illegal if you offend someone.
