hobbies

Post by Ralitsa »

I hear that a good coping mechanism is to have a hobby. But the idea of "coping with our femme side" seems to be contrary to the idea that expressing my femme side is the way that I cope. That used to be true for me; in recent years I've come more to accept that my femme side is the honest part of my personality and so living that is just living the truth.

All of which is to say, that I don't need to cope with my femme side, and living my femme side isn't coping for me, so I need a coping mechanism to deal with all the rest of the BS lately. So I bought an airplane. There's sweet story behind that, which I will tell later, maybe. So after getting the airplane out to New York, it was due for it's annual inspection, and determined to need a new propeller. As it turns out, finding a used propeller is difficult and a new one is $10,000.
So while I was trying to find a usable propeller that wasn't $10,000, I bought a second airplane. Unfortunately I can't fly this one either, because it's in California right now. But the good news is, that after visiting the Smoky Mountains to celebrate New Years (which is called Celebration of Trees and happens on the spring equinox in the religion I invented) I'm going out to California to get it. And hopefully I will have it back to Mandan in time for the EAA Young Eagles Day.
And yes, two airplanes are probably a lot of money, but the other alternative was wine - lots of wine.

Planes huh? So do you keep them out back or rent hanger space? I'm picturing you on a ladder, skirt blowing in the breeze and your helper is just smiling away. :) You need a prop; have you done all the maintenance yourself? Do you wrap a plane or paint them nowadays?

Me thinks plane maintenance is too much for this old lady. I'll stick to Harriet home owner stuff and shopping. The weather here has been brutal on my holiday lights; once the weather warms and dries I need to check connections and see what bulbs got water in them *sigh* I need solid ground to fix the holiday tree. All this will be in conjunction with prepping flower boxes. I did some fall seeding and bulb planting now I just wait then I can mulch yet again.

I've used my flower boxes as backdrops for some of my fem pics. They distract from me :)
