My mom got it and thinks it has really inproved her life. I am not sure what to do. The worse I can think is that can happen is I can talk to the surgan and find out about it for my self.

Hi Jessie,
Do as much research as you can, preferrably from independent sources, then ask your clinician what are the probalilities of things going wrong. Then ask them how many operations they have done, and how many of those were successful the first time. Compare the two answers carefully, they do not always correlate.
I have bad astigmatism in one eye, and need glasses for just about everything. After investigation, I came to the conclusion that I was not prepared to accept the risks involved.
It's your decision to make, but please remember, that there is a significant number of patients who have ended up with their sight worse after the operation that it was before, and all too often the damage is irreparable.
Good luck.
Caroline.

As Gaven said, all surgery has risks, but I can realte the experience of my in-laws, both in theie mid-70's they both had it done two years ago and and now neither has to wear glasses at all, of course ridding with my father-in-law at age 80 is what i would consider a "death wish." but that has nothing to do with his eyesight.
Good luck and let us knwo what you decide.
Love,
Deborah
