do i have a right to be angry?

Post by Lorna »

tonight was my second comedy show and this was the second time that i had a bunch of my "friends" say that they were coming down for the second time, but once again they were no shows.

fool me once, shame on you. fool me twice, shame on me.

if they don't want to come to my show then they should just be grown up about it and just say so. i would have more respect for them then.

i may have landed a gig at a place called governor's, a very popular comedy club here on long island. this gig could be big time. not bad for someone who 3 months ago did not consider herself a funny person.

the same folks who were hounding me 2 months ago about going out every weekend have stood me up again for the 2nd month in a row.

i am not going to tell a soul about my governor's gig. **** em. they can all kiss my a**.

Real supportive. :(

Hi Lorna,

If they didn't show the first time then you're right. Shame on you. Expecting a blind man to land a plane isn't a good idea and neither is putting faith in people who prove they aren't worthy.

How did the gig go though?

The gig went well. I drew even more laughter tonight. I really hopr that I land this Governor's gig. That's a step up!!

But I can't say that I'm not very hurt and disgusted. They gave me their word, Beauty. Several of them even took the trouble of making reservations.

So F them all. Tomorrow I'm going to get a LOT of apology e mails, and THEY are going to get a lot of nasty responses from me. None of them had better talk to me again.

It's times like this where people disgust me.

Hi,

That's awesome about your gig being so cool. :)

Silence is better than responding negatively. :? I hope you don't do anything more to keep the negativity alive.

Hi Lorna,

Sorry to hear you were disappointed by your "friends" but did their no show matter? Your gig was a success and that was your biggest worry. You're on top, girl. Just smile and one day they'll know what they missed.

So, when do you show on TV? Us Florida folks would like to see it too, ya hear!! rotf rotf rotf rotf rotf

Governor's is a comedy club here on Long Island. It's pretty well known here. Definitely a step or two up from the place I performed.

You know Lorna, there are acquaintences and their are neighbors and there are friends. A true friend is there for you under any circumstances. They will fly cross-country at a moment's notice to be by your side. These true friends are worth more than gold! And if you have just one in a lifetime you have "beat the system." Two or more and you are blessed beyond your wildest hopes and dreams. I know I am talking semantics as to how you categorize "friends," but that is my definition and if you are ever given the opportunity to be a "true friend" and it is for someone you believe in take the opportunity as quickly as you can, because it is a two-sided coin and you support each other under any circumstances. I don't want to "wax philosophical" but being a true friend or having a true friend is something that a lot of people will never be nor will they ever experience that joy. So, just hang in there and as you journey up the ladder of success - like the old proverb goes, "Hold your friends close, hold your enemies closer!"
Love ya,
Deborah

I really appreciate that... but I'm all the way on Long Island, NY, LOL... You & all the gals have been really supportive right here in the forum. And to me that's as good as you being there. ((G))

Thanks Deborah! ((G))

Boy did I ever play the sucker. Many of these individuals who failed to show up at my show were the same people whom I have stuck my hand into fire for. Just because they accept my Lorna side does not mean that they are true friends.

I only have one true friend.
