Hi girls,

I know I have mentioned this before, but my entire life whenever I have needed something big to happen, it has. There is a song by Thrice that kinda sums that up. It 's called "Stare at the Sun". It's about running at the closed door and beleiving it will open.

Here is the chorus

Because I'm due for a miracle
I'm waiting for a sign
Stare straight, into the sun
And I won't close my eyes
Till I understand or go blind

Love always,
Elizabeth

'Belfast' by Orbital. A beautiful piece of music, sends shivers down my spine every time I hear it. Also reminds me of my raving days in the early '90s.

'Papua New Guinea'
by Future Sound of London. As above. :wistful-sigh-smiley:

'In A Lonely Place' by New Order. (B-side of the 'Ceremony' single) This always reminds me of how I felt when I heard Ian Curtis had committed suicide. "How I wish you were here with me now"

'The Other Window' by Wire. About a guy travelling by train, alone, through a foreign country (France?). "When he looked through the window, For the 1000th time, He saw a black horse fighting for its life. In a barbed wire fence, Fatally tangled, The more it struggled the more it was strangled". I think it's the idea of seeing something awful and being powerless to do anything about it which 'moves' me. I always think of this song when travelling by train.

'It's a Boy' by Wire. My favourite Wire song of all time. Love the chorus - "You're a strange one, Are there any more like you? You're a rare one, I want one too".

'Talking With Myself' by Electribe 101. Vocalist Billie Ray Martin has the most beautiful voice...

Following the principle of saving the best until last -

'No Peace For The Wicked' by The Only Ones. Simply awesome. Here's the first verse/chorus -

"Why do I go through these deep emotional traumas?
Why can't I be like I always wanted to be? - carefree.
Why can't I be happy like everybody else?

There's no peace for the wicked,
They say no peace for the wicked,
Loud and clear - no peace for the wicked,
The angels tell me - there's no peace for the wicked."

"It's an unfair world, child. Be glad you have friends."

I saw my wife this past weekend, for the first time in almost a year. We had a good time, without any of the bickering we experienced in the past. She talked to me about resuming our occasional sexual relationship, after the divorce is final. It sounded like it might be fun then, but this song by Nickelback ran through the back of my mind the whole time:
Feeling Way Too Damn Good

I missed you so much that I begged you to fly in and see me
You must've broke down 'cause you finally said that you would
But now that you're here I just feel like I'm constantly dreaming
'Cause something's gotta go wrong 'cause I'm feelin' way too damn good

For 48 hours I don't think that we left my hotel room
Should show you the sights 'cause I'm sure that I said that I would
We gotta make love just one last time in the shower
Well something's gotta go wrong 'cause I'm feelin' way too damn good

And it's like
Every time I turn around
I fall in love and find my heart face down and
Where it lands is where it should
This time it's like
The two of us should probably start to fight
'Cause something's gotta go wrong 'cause I'm feeling way too damn good
Feelin' way too damn good

Sometimes I think best if left in the memory
It's better kept inside than left for good
Looking back each time they tried to tell me
Well somethings gotta go wrong 'cause I'm feelin' way too damn good

And it's like
Every time I turn around
I fall in love and find my heart face down and
Where it lands is where it should
This time it's like
The two of us should probably start to fight
'Cause something's gotta go wrong 'cause I'm feeling way too damn good
Feelin' way too damn good

I missed you so much that I begged you to fly in and see me
You must've broke down 'cause you finally said that you would
But now that you're here I just feel like I'm constantly dreaming
'Cause something's gotta go wrong 'cause I'm feelin' way too damn good

And it's like
Every time I turn around
I fall in love and find my heart face down and
Where it lands is where it should
This time it's like
The two of us should probably start to fight
'Cause something's gotta go wrong 'cause I'm feeling way too damn good
Feelin' way too damn good
I love my wife, and I don't think that feeling will ever truly be diminished. We had some good times together, and a lot of fun, and I think we'll always be friends, but what was before can never be again, and it's folly to try and sustain some illusion that it can.

Music that moves me. Since I checked my email earlier tonight, John Lennon's "Imagine" has been running through my head. Not Lennon's original, but a new cover by A Perfect Circle. It's part of a new album that's being released November 2, entitled "eMOTIVe". You can watch a video here:

http://www.aperfectcircle.com/

It's a bit darker than Lennon's version, but it seems appropriate for the times we live in. The piano and strings perfectly compliment Keenan's voice, and the imagery of the video drives the point of the song home. I'll be picking it up the day it comes out, right after I go to vote.

"The Song Is Over", The Who, Who's Next.
"Birds", Neil Young, After The Gold Rush.
"Release", Pearl Jam, Ten.
"Say Hello Wave Goodbye", David Gray, White Ladder.

I'm sure I can think of others, but I don't really want to deal with any "Have you been crying?" questions at the moment. <<^^^>>

Norah Jones - Turn Me On
Like a flower waiting to bloom
Like a lightbulb in a dark room
I'm just sitting here waiting for you
To come home and turn me on

Like the desert waiting for the rain
Like a school kid waiting for the spring
I'm just sitting here waiting for you
To come on home and turn me on

My poor heart, it's been so dark since you been gone
After all, you're the one who turns me off
You're the only one who can turn me back on

My hi-fi's waiting for a new tune
The glass is waiting for some fresh ice cubes
I'm just sitting here waiting for you
To come on home and turn me on
Turn me on
Norah Jones-Don't Know Why
I waited 'til I saw the sun
I don't know why I didn't come
I left you by the house of fun
I don't know why I didn't come
I don't know why I didn't come

When I saw the break of day
I wished that I could fly away
Instead of kneeling in the sand
Catching teardrops in my hand

My heart is drenched in wine
But you'll be on my mind
Forever

Out across the endless sea
I would die in ecstasy
But I'll be a bag of bones
Driving down the road alone

My heart is drenched in wine
But you'll be on my mind
Forever

Something has to make you run
I don't know why I didn't come
I feel as empty as a drum
I don't know why I didn't come
I don't know why I didn't come

Josh Groban - You're Still You
Through the darkness
I can see your light
And you will always shine
And I can feel your heart in mine
Your face I've memorized
I idolize just you

I look up to
Everything you are
In my eyes you do no wrong
I've loved you for so long
And after all is said and done
You're still you
After all
You're still you

You walk past me
I can feel your pain
Time changes everything
One truth always stays the same
You're still you
After all
You're still you

I look up to
Everything you are
In my eyes you do no wrong
And I believe in you
Although you never asked me to
I will remember you
And what life put you through

And in this cruel and lonely world
I found one love
You're still you
After all
You're still you
Josh Groban - To Where You Are
Who can say for certain
Maybe you're still here
I feel you all around me
Your memories so clear

Deep in the stillness
I can hear you speak
You're still an inspiration
Can it be
That you are mine
Forever love
And you are watching over me from up above

Fly me up to where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile to know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are

Are you gently sleeping
Here inside my dream
And isn't faith believing
All power can't be seen

As my heart holds you
Just one beat away
I cherish all you gave me everyday
'Cause you are mine
Forever love
Watching me from up above

And I believe
That angels breathe
And that love will live on and never leave

Fly me up
To where you are
Beyond the distant star
I wish upon tonight
To see you smile
If only for awhile
To know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are

I know you're there
A breath away's not far
To where you are

Let Me Fall
(from Cirque de Soleil)
Music: Richard Marx
Lyrics: Linda Thompson
Sung by Josh Groban
Let me fall
Let me climb
There's a moment when fear
And dreams must collide

Someone I am
Is waiting for courage
The one I want
The one I will become
Will catch me

So let me fall
If I must fall
I won't heed your warnings
I won't hear them

Let me fall
If I fall
Though the phoenix may
Or may not rise

I will dance so freely
Holding on to no one
You can hold me only
If you too will fall
Away from all these
Useless fears and chains

Someone I am
Is waiting for my courage
The one I want
The one I will become
Will catch me

So let me fall
If I must fall
I won't heed your warnings
I won't hear

Let me fall
If I fall
There's no reason
To miss this one chance
This perfect moment
Just let me fall
