Halloween, 2005

Post by Ami »

...hopefully this is in the right area...

What's your plans for Halloween this year? Less than 90 days away....

I know in the past, before I really discovered who Ami was, I always had fun on Halloween, in a "costume," such as a ballet dancer, aerobics instructor, a cat, etc. (Does anyone else see the spandex relationship there?

Last year, I went dressed to the local bar that did a drag show, but that was only at night.

This year, Halloween is on Monday, but of course taking the kids out for trick or treat is probably going to be on Saturday or Sunday. On Monday, I'm not sure what to do......
My thought is that on Friday and/or Saturday, there'll be a costume party at one of the bars around here...probably nothing on Sunday, which I'll attend as Ami, but not taking my kids out that way...maybe a pirate or something. (Ex-wife is none-to-keen with the idea)

I guess the questions are: I'm planning on spending the whole day, Monday as Ami. Dressed in 'normal' female clothes, if there is such a thing :) Do you think walking in the mall, going to the library, doing normal errands, etc., would be a good idea to see if I get read? Do you think it would be a good idea to make sure I'm scheduled for work that day? Should I ask for the day off and just 'make an appearance' at work?

The question stems from the fact that I feel like I'm beyond the point of just 'dressing.' For example, it used to be difficult to get a pair of hose on without feeling at least a little excitement. Now, it's more natural. Almost scarily natural.

I love all the posts everyone has written and a special 'Greetings' to everyone who is frequent in the chat room...you girls are special!

Much love to everyone,
Ami

I usually don't do anything special for Halloween. I once dressed as a stuffed Dummy and scared the kids as they came past where I was sitting in a lawn chair.

But usually Halloween trick-ro-treat is on a weekday, and getting home from work in time to pass out candy to the kids leaves no time to dress up.

I did dress up and go to work one year, however. It was on a Friday, and was the only day (every Fri.) the other members in the car pool had off. They were all gov. workers on a 4-10 schedule. We had a parking space at the Patent office in Crystal City VA.

When I got to the garage that morning, around 5:30 am (1/2 hour earlier than usual) I did a quick change to enfemme, drove over to my office in DC and took my male attire to my office. I left it there and drove back over to Crystal City. I was now committed (or should have been  ).

I parked, and walked to the Metro (subway) station. Boarded the train and took a seat. No one said a thing, pointed or stared the whole trip in. Nor did the guard at my Office. I even had a mustache at the time.

It was cool, being out enfemme and not worried and receiving no flack, apparently all because it was Halloween.

I did change back into drab at the Office around 9 am, before anyone else came in, however.

Hi Ami,
As for the "trick or treat." Seems that political correctness takes center stage. A lot of towns and cities now "dictate" when the actual scrounging for candy is to take place. Because Monday is a "school day" that does not work. If it is done on Sunday night you will certainly "go to hell." So Saturday night becomes for a lot of kids "the night."
As for Virginia, whatever tickles her fancy!!!!

Wife says I'm "male" this Halloween

Post by Rikki »

After two Halloweens en femme, this year I have been told that I have to take on a male persona this year. Bummer :( Last year was a hoot, we threw a party with friends and neighbors and I had them all amazed with my femme atire. The first time people who know me well saw me dressed to the max. So this year it's drab-hood for me I think, lest they begin to suspect. rr

Hi all,

The most I will do for Halloween is stay home and hand out treats. Last year I wore a mask when I handed out treats at home.

I might dress up this year and have several ideas.

I'm going to post one costume idea at a time so I can get some replies and keep the thread going.

This blonde may go against type and wear a long straight black wig, maybe a head band, a bohemian or peasant top with embroidered trim, long broomstick skirt, tan knee high boots, and be a hippie chick.

To add to the atmosphere, turn on my lava lamp and play some 60's music, probably the Nuggets box set.

Doesn't this sound far out?

Make love, not war,

This year I plan to go as a fairy, with my CD friend Carlie going as another fairy.

Last year we were both nurses, and the year before that we were maids.

Its better if youre with another CD, especially if they were once security guard in the local supermarket. :)
I wanna be in this hoi polloi...

Unfortunately, where I live Halloween is no longer actively observed. It has been declining for several years. Last year, though we had all our outside lights on and decorations up, not one child came to the door all evening.

So, this year I'll just sit back with a good book.

Love,
Kathy

As has been mentioned, it seems halloween has evolved in the last decade to be less fun. PC and 9/11 I suppose. Its really a shame to make an issue of everything because a few are offended. When I was a kid, it was a great day!!! In my 50+ years (don't ask), I have yet to dress enfemme on that day.
Just a few years ago, I had over 150 kids visit and swipe my candy (I hid the KitKats for last) which also meant..straight home from work, no chance for anything but to answer the door. The last few years has seen a dramatic drop-off in trick or treaters although my light has been on (the house light..not sure about mine)
My plans? This year, if a friend of mine can make it, its either Key West for FantasyFest or a return to DisneyWorld. Key West is rather expensive...and Disney has Halloween days and encourages costumes. HMMM....what does a CD wear for a costume? A flannel shirt and jeans? But hopefully....it will be my first halloween as DeeDee. Ok, birthday also.

Hi all,

I have a variation on the hippie chick theme.

I would keep the the long black wig, peasant/bohemian top and long skirt, but be a gypsy, wearing more jewelry and makeup than a hippie chick.

I would still be handing out treats at home.

What are your ideas?

I do not dress for Halloween: I hide in the back of the house with the lights out and can't wait to the morning lights sight over the mountains.
