Damn - watching that movie Harold & Kumar go to White Castle- put me in the mood for White Castle hamburgers!! It's a Northeastern thing...
But I have been a good girl dietwise (just lost 5 pounds) so maybe going there tomorrow for lunch won't hurt... I'll walk it off!!

What a coincidence!
I haven't had White Castles in many years and just yesterday, five of us from my office had them for lunch! I was surprised to see them come back with a card board "suit case" of 30 burgers.

I need you all to do me a favor and STOP telling me to be cheerful whenever I don't feel like acting the part. Every human being has their dark days, even me, believe it or not.
If I am upset & in a dark period, then just let me be. Just give me my damn space and allow me my "upset time". Every human being needs that. That is the way of the world. So let's get used to that.
That is all I ask. Thank you very much.

Hi Lorna,
I know that because we are friends you make an attempt to understand what I am going to say to you, and not take it as telling you to be cheerful when you do not feel like being cheerful.
Having said that, life is just too short to waste even one second being unhappy. Rather than ask you to just be cheerful, which of course is impossible anyway, I would ask you to assess what is making you unhappy and remove it from your life.
While there are some things that make us unhappy that we can not get out of our lives, like a job we hate, or inlaws that don't like us, or relatives that don't understand us, we can lessen them. There are other jobs. One can sucessfully avoid those who do not approve of us or our lifestyle, regardless of what it is they do not approve about us. We can make new friends, and we really can "get happy"
In order to have a happy life the first thing you have to do is get happy. Then you have to stay that way for a day. Then you do it for another day. You string two happy days together and it is very uplifting. You string together three and you are on top of the world, you string together four and that my friend is a "streak".
Every day is not a happy day for me. But it is rare for them to not be inbetween streaks of happy days. But you have to make it happen. It does not happen by itself. It has been my observation over time that most people who are unhappy with thier lives, it is because they are doing nothing to make thier life happy. Hoping for happiness to come your way is indeed going to be a long wait.
Do what makes you happy, avoid what makes you unhappy. It really is that simple.
Love always,
Elizabeth

2006 will definitely be the year that I push 300% harder than I did in 2005.
I will PUSH for a better job this year. I'm tired of scraping by, tired of missing out on so many parties & events (3rd year in a row I cannot go to Tiffany event next weekend, plus have NEVER been to a SC or a DLV event)
This is NOT why I went to college. I went to college so that I could find a decent job so I could live like a human being & not have to always pass up on life, simply because I "can't afford it". Well, NO MORE OF THAT. I have to put myself in a position whereas I can afford to not just "survive" but actually LIVE.
Survival vs. LIVING? Yes, there's a BIG difference.

hey
very nicely said elizabeth, although sometimes its hard to be happy all the time. but, if there are more days of happyness stringed then unhappyness, It makes life easyer. I know you have given me that advice a few times.
Love, Raven
