I seem to have the advantage of the newer generation in that it is perfectly acceptable for men to have earrings and other various piercings.
I have only my left ear pierced and am contemplating getting the right one done too. I have long hair also so many people dont even notice unless it is windy or I get annoyed with my hair and tuck it behind my ears so I can read. Also, it is gauged to 10 gauge which really isnt that big at all and is still considered feminine for the females that gauge as well, like Amanda heh.
I haven't tried wearing different earrings yet but I have thought about it before. I partially didnt try because only have one fem earring would look pretty dumb.

Pierced ears
Hi,
In February 06, I had the courage to get both ears pierced, & was surprised as to just how quick & simply it was. The only thing was that the piercing had to sprayed with an antisceptic couple of times a day and the studs also needed to be turn regularly over a period of 6 weeks.
In July, I removed the studs, and this month (Dec) I decided to put the studs back & was pleased that they slide in with no problems, of having the piercings having grown over.
My main problems are putting back clips on the back and not dropping the little things .

The year is 2006
I have a suggestion for many who are considering getting their ear peirced and don't for fear of being outed as having pierced ears. Look at every single rap and rock video you can find and show me one guy that DOESN'T have at least one ear pierced and so many have both. If you start getting looks, next time you get in your car near one of your male phobic co workers get in and turn up some rap music real loud as you drive off. You just went from being a possible gay to a cool guy regardless of your age.....in fact the older you are the cooler it will appear.
I have had both my ears pierced for close to 18 years now. I am 35 and the left ear became popular for guys when I was a teen. There was the infamous myth about left is straight and right is gay. Then it became ok to have multiple piercings be it nose, ears, tongues. During those years I got my tongue and two more on the left and two on the right. So I have been able to wear 5 earings for some time now. Daily at work I never wear one and when at home I hardly wear them either but occassionally I will put on a pair or more and just be hip hop cool. The secret is to wear black while wearing your earings!!!
The tongue ring healed up years ago, but I have gone as long as 8 months without trying to put in an earing and they still slide right in. BTW I pierced them myself with a stud earing. The only pro piercing I got was my tongue and when I was a very young adult some guy at a nightclub pierced my nipple for 10 dollars......one of those mornings you woke up and said " What happened?".I kept that for about a year but it never seemed to heal and was always bothering me.

I finally decided to get my ears pierced about 8 weeks ago after I came out to my mom. She thought it was great idea and even gave me some she didn't wear anymore.
It is not that big a deal anymore for a man to have both ears pierced so I went to the mall to have it done. The lady who did it didn't bat an eye and showed me the most popular choices for men. I picked the second smallest 14K gold ones. While she was getting things ready she said "So many men are getting there ears pierced now" I said yeah kind of a fad" Lame I know but that was all that came to mind.
The next day at work everyone did notice but all the younger one just said somthing like "ohh you got your ears pierced how do you like it?"
One older lady after seeing me for like 2 hours gave me a strange look then said "Have your ears allways been pierced" I said no did it yesterday" another strange look and that was all.
If you are still worried I heard of a trick I didn't do. Get the smallest stud (you have to start with studs that fit the piercing gun) and then paint the outer edge with flesh colored nail polish taking care not to get it on your ear. you can't take them out for 4-6 weeks and must keep cleaning them twice a day to prevent infection.
I did do clip ons for like 10 years but choices are limited and besides there is a thrill to put them on and doing it without a mirror (and without putting another hole in your ear) have been a real turn on to me makes me feel very fem

pierced ears
I had my ears pierced at Clare's about 10 years back.
The sales girl that did the piercing for me asked which ear I wanted done and reacted with surprise when I replied "both".She went ahead and her job though, with no comments. She probably has few 50 yr old male customers.
I wore very small studs and tried to mute them with liquid make-up for some time.
I now wear studs with my birthstone as well as others while in drab. I have some very lovely matching sets of necklace and earrings that I wear sometimes while enfem
My dear supportive wife has asked only that I don't wear ear rings that hang down when in male mode.
Thanks for allowing me to share.
Be Well

Thanks Dalindra.
You are so right, I do have a wonderful wife
Thirty-four years she has put up with both her husband and Rachel.
Our kids are grown now and the last just married in early August, so I have the pleasure of being myself around the house after work.
She did not want to sleep (I do mean sleep) with me wearing fem night clothes at first, but now she has bought several gowns for me.
She is wonderful to be as supportive as she is!
