Wood (laminated) floors On a cold day, tile is too cold for my feet in tights!
For the turning the lights on and off, prefer using:
Simple on/off switch or an adjustable dimmer knob/control?

Handles, but they'd better be well designed! (It's harder to design an annoying knob, but great knobs just aren't as elegant as great handles.)
Ornate designs or simple elegance?

Crown moulding, please. I often find dado rails too visually distracting for my taste - they tend to chop a space up into, er, smaller spaces.
Formal dining room, or home theatre?
