Our first bike ride!

Well I did it, or rather we did it! SL and Virginia straddled our Honda VTX 1800 for the first ride. I wore a pair of black slacks with print flowers around the cuffs, a white mock turtle neck long sleeve T, tucked in. Light pink nail polish, rings on every finger (I love my rings), and tennis shoes.

When we got back SL asked me how it felt and I have to admit it was somewhat anti-climatic. With a full-face helment, that negates any make-up and hair you may be wearing. We were in city traffic quite a bit, but I think all anyone saw that even looked was two girls on a motorcycle, actually nothing much out of the ordinary.

I guess one could wear shorts and a sleeveless tank top or something like that, but you are still on a bike and really full leathers would be the order of the day, 'cept it was in the mid -90's here today.

So I done it and SL even took a couple of pictures, and they are posted in the Gallery. Would I do it again!? Well, yes, it was not quite as intimidating as I thought. The hair thing could be a bit of a problem, but with proper planning it can be "taken care of" if you remove your "brain bucket" carefully!

I've been toying with the idea of a night time ride en femme. I own a Buell and I love to ride, especially at night. It's cooler and there is much less traffic. Like Virginia said, a full face helmet makes you kind of androgynous. Hair and make-up might as well stay home.

I don't think I could shift very well with open toed heels. A bit rough on the big toe.

Randi, honey, glad you "done it!" However, I guess it's "urban legend" now, but I know when I bought my first bike and was as awed about the various styles of helmet almost as much as I was about the bikes, and I asked the most basic, stupid question that I guess every novice asks, "What is a good helmet?" and the classic answer is always, "Well, what's your head worth?" Kinda puts it in perspective!

Anyway, far be it from me to tell someone else how to live or ride, so all I can say is, "keep it between the ditches and the shiny side up!!!"

So nice to read that you two went for a ride. I have often dreamed I could ride my bike enfemme. Like you I too own an 1800 VTX R 02. Black of course. I'm sure one day I'll muster up the courage to just do it. Yes I wear a helmet.
