Hey, Donna, thanks for the link!
Donna had an excuse for not participating, but I've checked all 67 photos, and not once did I see our resident hippy cheerleader, Kendra Lynn . . . not even in the group cheerleading photo. ::hmph::
Looks like a great time, and if we lived a lot closer, I would gladly have participated in the event!

It does not matter which city has been doing it longer or does it better . . . . the most important thing to remember is that they are all having a great time.

Lets see, 8 years, 3,000 miles, that's a whole 1.02 miles a day. So much for communications at the speed of light. I can crawl faster.
But if that is true, I can look into my crystal ball and see:
Your congress-critter and both US Senators will be women, and Democrats, one of which is pretty far left and the other, well, you can have DiFi.
Marijuana will have been effectively decriminalized, and available for legal sale in a number of locations in your town at prices no worse than the street and high quality too, and the rest of the 'war on drugs' will pretty much be over also.
Your economy is booming, resting on the three pillars of International Finance and Banking, Cutting-Edge High-Tech electronics and biology, and tourism.
Transgender rights will have been a reality on the local level for over 15 years, complete with a City commission to enforce the regulations, and the state will have passed a strong TG protection law also.
One of the most pesky problems in TG relations, those with the police, will be addressed by having a TS as Commissioner of Police.
There is only one "TG" bar, and its a haven for prostitutes. All other TG things are pretty much shut because TG people can go anywhere. Except for one over the top night where taking it to the extreme is the norm.
Prostitution is routinely denied prosecution from the DA who choses to use her office to go after domestic violence and not victimless crimes.
Being gay is no big deal, and not a bar to elected office.
TG people will be regulars on the 'society' pages of the local paper, and several are of such high stature that you couldn't think of holding a fundraiser without one of them on board.
Drag races like this will not be news items either, but they still will be a good time.
Of course you will also have a governor who can't pronounce the state's name, but ya can't win them all.
Oh yeah, you will have free wireless web almost everywhere you go.

DC HIGH HEEL RACE
Silverlady: I definitely participated in the HIGH HEEL RACE-- navy blue and white cheer outfit; white chunky heel boots. I believe the cheer group you're referring to was sponsored by RESULTS gym-- I saw them practicing before the race started. Their dressing style is more "drag queen" and exaggerated, but their dance moves are really good. Ran into a few other TGEA members after the race ended. I have photos (of course) and have just learned how to transfer photos from a RITZ CAMERA CD to I PHOTO, but still have NO idea how to post them here. (that process is probably a bit more complicated and I'm not likely to attempt it without a technology therapist present).
Will you be coming to the TGEA Holiday gala? I'll try to remember to bring photos with me.
The weather for the 2007 HIGH HEEL RACE was the best ever-- dry, upper 50's, low 60's.
I observed Halloween for about a week-- "hippie cheerleader" was very much "out and about" attending the HIGH HEEL RACE, a small neighborhood festival, a big party in Takoma Park (where "hippie cheerleader" met "Wonder Woman, "Supergirl," and "Powergirl."), and even an anti global warming protest!
Hope everyone else had a groovy Halloween week!
Peace-- Kendra Lynn (hippie cheerleader).

As of right now, Virginia and I are planning on attending, although we've yet to buy our tickets and reserve our hotel room . . . we'll probably be doing that sometime in the next week or so. Definitely bring your photos, we'd love to see them!Kendra Lynn wrote:Will you be coming to the TGEA Holiday gala? I'll try to remember to bring photos with me.
