Fun Weekend in Charlotte

Post by Jaye »

I haven't had a lot of opportunity for crossdressing since I moved back to Virginia, but I've kept in touch with my Kappa Beta friends in Charlotte. I was able to score a couple of days off last weekend to come down for their Christmas party.

This was my first time traveling with both wardrobes. Usually, traveling just as a man, I throw a few things in a bag and I'm done packing. Not so this go around. I packed my usual male bag, then packed another (larger) bag for my femme things. I packed one casual outfit (top, sweater, jeans), plus my dress for the party. Then came my hair, breasts, makeup, two pairs of shoes, lingerie, etc.

I drove down Friday morning. I was making pretty good time traveling down I-85, until I hit Kannapolis (about 30 mi north of the city). Traffic slowed down to a crawl, and barely moved for 90 minutes. After the jam cleared, it only took another twenty minutes or so to get to my hotel.

I got up early Saturday morning to begin my preparations. I used to keep myself pretty hairless, but I'd been neglecting that part of myself since I moved, so everything had to go (legs, arms, chest). I paid a visit to my favorite nail salon and got the works: manicure, pedicure and eyebrow wax. I wasn't happy with the shoes I'd brought for my dress, so I popped into the nearby Payless to pick out a different pair. I managed to find a pair on sale, as well as a bag that matched the dress perfectly.

I haven't been shopping at Torrid as much since I moved (the nearest store is 30 minutes away, now), but I have been keeping up with their emails. Last week, they sent me a coupon good for 20% off my next purchase. I drove down to Southpark Mall and bought some jewelry there: two rings, a necklace and a new set of black and silver bangle bracelets. While I was in the mall, I picked up some new earrings at Claires and a pair of shimmery black pantyhose from Macy's. Then I went back to the hotel to finish dressing.

I thought being out of practice would slow down my makeup prep, but if anything, it seemed to go faster. I guess I was impatient. My outfit consisted of a Little Black Dress I found at Ross last year for $17. It's cut straight across the bust, with spaghetti straps and a sort of wrap/bow detail that trails into a wispy scarf-looking thing down the front of the dress. It's very short, ending about mid-thigh. Over this went my fuzzy black coat, which was actually longer than the dress!

By the time I left for the party (a little after 5) it had started to rain a little, but I made it to Hartigan's with no mishaps. It was great seeing everyone again, and there were several girls there that I hadn't seen in months. After dinner, there was an entertainment section, where several of our members did lip-synch numbers. It was all very nice.

I missed all this: the fun, the camaraderie, the feeling of sisterhood and belonging.

Hi Jaye--
How nice that you got to go out again, and see people you had missed! I haven't been to Payless for quite some time, but they're always there when I need them. The amount of packing for a femme outing still gets to me sometimes, but I've got it down pat, and I have a list that I scan that has everything I need on there. It has saved me from forgetting something important more than once.

The traffic sounded awful! Maybe you should leave at 2am next time.

Hey, Hon! Glad you got to go out again, does not sound anything like you got SL, Caith and I into, but then again it takes a while to recover from a night like that!

Have you gotten a chance to check out the "Rainbow Cactus" in Virginia Beach yet or check into the Pink Essence group?

Coming home you have to be careful of the I-85 traffic as well. I remember, coming back from SCC and coming upon a wreck at the Lexington, I-85 split! Two girls in a old white, two door Chevy Nova had hit a hearse, the lead car in a black funeral procession and had knocked the coffin out of the hearse and it was sitting in the middle of the road and all these funeral goers were gathered around it in their "Sunday Go to Meeting" finest! With the hearse and the Nova amid the skid marks sitting there, smoking! I mean you can't make this stuff up it was unreal!!!!

So be careful out there!

Love,

Virginia
